SIG Made in the USA vs. "Frame made in Germany"

The US SIG's (both with German made frames and US made frames) have a greater quality control issues. Browse the SIG boards and you'll know what I mean.
German made SIG's (slide and frame) have different finishes. They ALL come with test targets as a testiment to the manufacturing quality. You do pay for the difference though unless your buying surplus. Then your getting a real deal and a half.

It's really not about the frames as Sig has been importing their frames from Germany for years now. Hence the "frame made in Germany" or the "DE" stamp on the frame.The pistol is being assembled in the US.
When people talk about German Sig's they are reffering to pistols made and assembled in Germany. Many people hold the view that these pistols are superior in fit and finish generally with the old stye folded steel slide..Whether this is or was true I don't really know. Some of this German envy may be because they are rare now in the US and some people looking back with nostagia colouring their views.
I have several Sig's some German but most made in the US and they all have worked fine for me. My most accurate and well built pistol is a P210 that was made in Switzerland so maybe Swiss Sig's are superior to both. I suggest that you get whichever Sig you want and I'm sure you won't be dissapointed.

The German sigs undergo thrid party QC totally independant of Sig and the requirments are 3 times more stringent than U.S. internal QC requirement. Which is typically why New All German Sigs are much more expensive than New U.S. made Sigs, cost to manufacture is higher due to having to pay outsiders to check them. Sig U.S.A. is independent business arm of Sig in Europe so they can play by different rules and USA is under more pressure to perform financially so the product is typically...in the industry...well understood to be inferior if U.S. made as oposed to German Made, still better than most though. For Example Sig USA had huge issues with the BCG and continued to sell the platform while being aware of the problem...documented allegation. In Germany this could NEVER happen. Buy German if you can, if not Sig USA does still make acceptable products.

I totally agree with this. last year I bought a Beretta M9 at a local store annual sale, great price and I couldn't resist. The gun has very nice fit and finish but because I work at metal shop, I do know what I should looking for, compared with an italian made 92fs, just not as nice and smooth, still much better gun then of Ruger or Smith. I sold it shorty after.
