Can anybody tell me how the full steel body Sigs mags from Mec-Gar are pinned? I have a couple mags coming in and I was talking to my buddy about that and we were wondering how they do it since they welded and we never seen one in person.

Thanks

there not pinned there basically shortend mags with a extended base plate as shown in the pic

The "welded" magazines (15/10 round magazines) have a metal tab insert welded inside the magazine body- or at least, this is how my Questar mags came.

You will see some discoloration on the outside of the magazine body from the "welding" process.

Mine all work 100%.

Ok right on, thanks for the fast reply, now I can go drink beer with buddy tonight and say that I did my homework. I looked on google and couldn't find anything, thanks for helping me with my curiosity.

Welded Questar 40cal mag... can take it apart and take a pic later if wanted...

My 10rd Mec-Gars with baseplate. They do have hi-cap mags with rivets which I haven't seen up close.

Welded Mag-looks like a little metal plate with a couple sloppy welds in there... follower does not come out. Fits 14 rounds of 9mm and fires perfectly or 10 of 40cal.

Thanks, I guess there is no standard on how they do it. I will see from myself once I get mine.

Where did you get them? Questar, another canadian company or from the states?

I guess as long as they are permanently blocked to 10rds they are legal, several ways to do it. I'm interested to see the internals of the riveted mags that Satain has...

Just a simple 20 round mecgar mag that has the rivet in the back at the 10 round mark then filled smooth.
