SIG MCX VIRTUS an ar 15 variant?

MCX is compatible with AR Upper and Lower Receivers. You can swap back and forth with no issues, therefore they are an AR variant.

The MCX will get the ban-hammer if it comes, but remember that there will be a 2-year amnesty wherein you can still enjoy the rifle and during which time a lot of things could change WRT the government in power, etc. Why worry about what could occur when you could be enjoying that rifle you want for at least another 2 years, and then worst case, you (presumably) are either grandfathered or you sell it back to the government for close to what you paid? Sounds reasonably risk-free to me - or at least to as risk-free as you are likely to find in this day and age. With some MCX Virtus' (like mine) that are currently listed for 50% of retail price, you really cannot go wrong (shameless plug)...

Honestly I hate hearing about losing our guns and so forth and worst case we sell them back to close to what we purchased them.... come on man, you kidding me! First no one is losing there guns and second let’s stop talking like “oh it’s ok we can enjoy them for another year” Sorry for the rant but it seems on every thread someone brings up the ban bull####.

Six years here, 426 posts, feedback of 2, and probably voted Liberal because you think they won't do what they've already told you they would. You've never seen confiscation because you weren't around the last time it happened, were you? I was. They WILL ban guns, they WILL confiscate guns. If they're feeling generous, they might pay you for them. Sticking you fingers in your ears and yelling "La LA LA LA" won't change that. Ask anyone who owned a Spas 12, Feather AT22 or AT9, Calico 22 or 9mm pistol among others. The owners got letters instructing them what to do, and when to do it, or face arrest and prosecution. Our best hope is that the egos in Ottawa are so dysfunctional at playing with each other that we're back to voting within 2 years. My personal thought is they'll spend the first year and a half passing virtue signalling environmental law and throwing buckets of money at Quebec to try to buy more votes there, then when they think they've purchased enough good will from Quebec, they'll pull the plug and have another election. This term in parliament is going to be a doozie.

PS - when was the last time you saw an AK on the range? Didn't think so, why is that? They're banned. You can own one, if you had one before it was banned, but the most fun you can have with one is posting a picture of it on CGN. Is that why it was purchased? Of course not, but that's the limit of what you can do with it, so really, what's the point? I used to take one hiking - no permit required.

I’ll be turning 40 next year I ain’t no f’n troll, you look at how many post I’ve done and judge me and say I’m liberal! Go #### your self! Word to mother

Honestly very mad at the liberal comment, ask my wife that and she would probably slap you... have a good night my cgn

I think the point he's trying to make is that Canada already has a history of banning and confiscating firearms, and now in the current political climate, there's an increased likelihood of it happening again.

Ya let’s keep talking about it... let’s be f’n positive is all I said smfh

There's nothing wrong with being positive, but remember to still be realistic. Having your head in the clouds isn't. I will admit he could have done without the first few sentences, but hey the point still stands. This is the reality for firearm owners in Canada.

i'm just telling it like it is, dude. If you don't like what I have to say, then put me on "ignore" and my writings won't cloud your sunny disposition again....

Can you demonstrate or provide a link on how to attach MCX upper on AR15 lower without conversion kit and make it work?

Your Googlefu is weak

w.riflegear.com/p-11281-sig-sauer-mcx-ar15-conversion-kit-556mm-16-upper.aspx

"Complete with upper assembly, AR lower adapter, stock adapter and match duo kit. The AR adapter allows the use of the MCX upper on a standard AR lower receiver. The use of the supplied trigger kit is recommended, aftermarket triggers may cause malfunctions."

Match Duo is a great trigger btw

That's exactly my point. You need "conversion kit" or "adapter", otherwise it won't work. Here's the thing, with adapter you can put many things on top of ar15 lower. Or, with "adapter" you can put a lot of things on top of MCX lower. "Adapter" implies things are not compatible for "swapping back and forth".

Given that the lab counts bailing wire and duct tape as "counting" for reasons of compatibility - they wired an upper to a lower and when it fired once declared the lower to be an AR - I'm pretty sure a conversion kit being available ruins the whole thing.

The MCX upper will absolutely drop into any standard AR15 lower and fire. The stock conversion block is necessary to fully support the spring retainer, but without it the receiver ring will support the lower half and allow the upper to function normally - it will likely be damaged through any long term use that way, however.

For the RCMP, that's more than enough.

For reference, here's Nutnfancy doing exactly what you shouldn't do if you don't want to damage your MCX Upper:

Thank-you for taking the time to prove our point to the non-believers.

Thanks you for details and picture. I stand corrected. MCX upper is not designed to fit AR15 lower, however it can be and that will cause damage to lower.
