Hi guys, I just have a quick question for the Sig Mk25 owners. Do they come with chrome lined barrels? Thinking about picking one up from Questar and I vaguely remember reading that they came with chrome lined chambers and bores, which Sig normally doesn't do. I don't really care if it does or doesn't, I'm just curious, seems kinda neat. Also, how well does the bar code sticker fair after some serious use?

Hi, I am pretty sure it does to prevent corrosion from salt water as its made for the US Navy. There is a salt water treatment on the entire gun to prevent corrosion actually! The sticker won't matter to you since its for the army to keep track of it! But its made for them again, so it should hold up pretty good. Cheers.

Sigs website is a bit bland on the mk25 but the internals should be phosphate coated and barrel hard chromed like the combat.
Believe they both also have the same pita rail on them as well, at least holster options are more readily available for them now.

The MK25 does not have a chrome lined barrel. Internal parts and controls are phosphated for extreme corrosion resistance and reduced friction. And other than the Anchor and sticker.....that's about it.

Sorry padawan. My LGS just got one in and I just finished looking at it, the barrel is chrome lined. Guess I solved my own question! Thanks guys.

I was looking at buying one not 4 months ago. I emailed Sig and they said it does not have a chrome lined barrel. I doubt they've changed their mind in 4 months.

Sig is full of it then because I just looked at the pistol this morning and it is definately chrome lined.

You are correct. I just checked the sig forum, and apparently there are some guys who got one and some that didn't. There is a ton of confusion about this. Sig's official line is, if you got one, your lucky as it's not standard. I'm going to message again and ask WTF is going on.

It'll have a silver/light grey ring on the edges of the crown most likely, and it'll be silver/light grey throughout the bore when you shine a light on it.

Okay, cool. Mine has the silver on the crown. I got it last week and that's one of the first things I noticed on it. I have the 9mm TacOps and that crown is fully black.
I'll check for differences in colour when I get home an update. Thanks for the info boys!

Where did you pick your Mk25 up from?

I picked up mine from Questar a few months ago. Mine has the chrome lined barrel and is my favourite 226 to shoot. (And yes that includes my original all German folded slide 226 despite the rumours that it was built by German gnomes in their secret workshop deep in the heart of a Bavarian forest and sprinkled with magic "super quality" dust.) I have a set of Sig alum. grips on mine and it fits my hand perfectly. I'm sure I really don't need the phosphated parts but I was in the market for a new 226 and for the price you can't beat all the features including night sights included with this pistol.

For me, it was missing important features, such as the SRT, E2 grips and the Short reach trigger.

True it does lack the E2 grips and short trigger but the E2 grips and trigger can easily be added for people that need them. The 226 has been around for a long time and worked great without the E2 grips for most people but I understand that they work better for some people. For me I prefer a set of G10's or alum. grips.
As for the SRT I have a 226 and a 229 Elite with the SRT and in all honesty I don't see a real advantage to the SRT. The trigger reset is just fine for me on "regular" models but I have been shooting Sig's for almost 20 years so maybe I'm just used to them.
