Sig Mosquito is one of the most problem gun in the market, having said that it looks really cool but very picky on ammo, poor comments all over the place, but there are also people able to get one good but not always the case. M&P is a great gun and sell like hot cake, I think better off to get the M&P.

I bought one for my son. I has worked fantastic for all kinds of different .22lr ammo. :) When we first started shooting it there were 2 or 3 FTF's every couple of hundred rounds. Now after about 1k rds it's about 2 or 3 FTF's every box of 525rds. I think most of the bad reviews were from before Sig changed a couple of things with the gun. My son LOVES it and fires off a box of 525 every time we go to the range.:ar15: :runaway:

Derek, as mentioned, there are many reports of problems with the Mosquito, as well as the Walther P22. Your idea of getting a .22 is a very good one however, and I'd suggest a Ruger, or Browning. You can learn pistol basics on these without breaking the bank; last year, I bought a case each of 9mm and .22, here's the breakdown:

- one case 9mm (500 rounds): $125.00, or 25 cents per round
- one case .22 (5000 rounds): $160.00, or .032 cents per round.

In other words, 9mm is 8 times more expensive to shoot than .22!

By all means, get a 9mm, they're tons o' fun, but you'll be shooting your .22 a lot more, and besides, they're a ton 'o fun too. I have a Ruger Mark 1 that I love: it has a fantastic trigger right out of the box, and is accurate as hell. I thought I was going to shoot my 9mm a lot, but I use the .22 a lot more.

Sig Mosquito

Heres my 2 cents. I own a sig misquito and for the most part I like it. I shot off 100 stingers last weekend and I had about 6 or 8 ftf. I'm hopeing that where it is still kind of new it needs to be broke in. I like the way it handles, it feels comfortable in my hands. Its easy to disassemble and clean. I'm not giving up on it yet, but on the other side of the coin if a Ruger MKII comes up I will be looking at it seriously.
