My sig mosquito refuses to work with federal bulk .22.. wont cycle.

Any inexpensive ammo that works? I didnt buy a .22 pistol to buy ammo thats costs the same thing as reloading my 9mm....

The problem is not finding ammo that works good in a Mosquito... it's finding a Mosquito that works good.

Like browning said, bought a CZ Kadet to my wife, will cycle everything and anything all day long, that's why I bought it for my wife so she has fun shooting and not dejamming a gun.

most 22 pistols will only run reliably with high powered ammo.
I do not believe that is completely true. I have two Norinco m93 and one Ruger that will eat anty budget ammo you put through it as well as some subsonic. I bet ya can't guess the only pistol that would not eat any and all ammo, you guessed it the Sig Mosquito. Needless to say I do not own it anymore.

i meant most plastic ones i have had. True the steel guns work no problem.

cci mini mags, stingers.

DO NOT USE STINGERS!!!!! Stingers cracked the frame of my mosquito and anybody in a gun shop will tell you stingers are ment for something stronger than a semi, especially a semi pistol with a weak slide structure like the sig mosquito. Mine wont cycle worth a damn unless its minimags, even on the light recoil spring.

SIG P226, P229 and P220 100% with cheap Federal bulk pack and other cheap ammo. CZ Kadet, ditto. More expensive pistols (Walther PP, PPK, TPH) also no problem regardless of ammo.

Sorry, Mosquito is one of the guns SIG should never have let Umarex build in their name. Walther is also in there with P22, another disaster.

I understand if you polish everything (lightly) and get the right grease (fishing reel grease) the SIG Mosquito will work. Chamber, rails, etc. Very light polish on the chamber, check it to see if it needs such a thing. All 22s need to be kept clean, since 22 is exceptionally dirty ammo. Don't shoot plain lead ammo either, stick with copper plated stuff to reduce fouling.

Most of the 22s I get that "don't work" have a defect in the chamber, often too shallow, followed by leaded chamber / barrel ("dirty") followed by rough spots in the rails. I have fixed dozens of .22 pistols that were "unreliable". Lead ammo was often the culprit. Don't shoot the really cheap stuff, but bulk pack stuff should ignite reliably and cycle in any .22 you own. Your pistol can be made reliable, as long as you have a light touch and a stiff wrist. Another significant cause of failure to cycle is "limp wristing" -- give the pistol a firm foundation to cycle against.

Umarex should really stick to pellet and bb pistols though.

why did I buy this s**tty pistol....
It's a cheap and easy fix, go to Canadian Tire and get some Blue Magic polish, I've used it to polish all the feed ramps on every firearm I own. Polish the feed ramp and action, remember that friction is the enemy with some touchy 22LR pistols or rifles.

While your at Canadian Tire, buy a bunch of those cheapo 22LR ammo boxes, I think they are 50 round boxes for a few bucks, buy one of each type, and try all of them to you get a winner. It shouldn't cost you more than 10 bucks.

Lastly, use higher powered 22lr ammo, I think Sig recommends CCI for the Mosquito, don't quote me though. And clean it religiously, as you know, 22lr ammo is filthy.

I love getting a gun to work, though I enjoy projects, you should find tons of info by googling. I did a quick search and came up with youtube vids and other stuff.

And don't give up, unless of course you want to sell it to me :)

CCI Minimag and Remington Thunderbolt work great in mine. About 800-1000 rounds through it, no problems (cleaning it periodically). Anything else and I get FTE and FTF all the time.

Mine loves oil, lots of it especially when I was breaking it in, I use to put a drop on the odd shell casing in the magazine when I loaded them, it would be happy if I dunked it in a pail of oil every 200 rounds. Mine will shoot anything from sub sonics to bulk feds, Mimi mags of course it loves. I did some feed ramp polish to mine when I first got it and was having the odd FTF during break in and couldn't find any mini mags. I think I'm lucky and got a good one, my brother has the sport model with the plastic barrel cover on the end and hates it because it jams so much. I know mine also likes a clean mag, I've had them hang up from gritty powder used in cheaper ammo, I think that CCI is a cleaner round and one of the resons they like CCI.

Mine's a Sport model and it works good. Although the barrel weight on mine is metal not plastic, maybe there's a difference. +1 on oil.

They may all be metal then, I may have been thinking the end on a P22 is plastic and confused the two? Another thing is they hate to be limp wristed I hear, I always hold mine firm, but saw a video once where a guy showed his jamming when limp wristed, and fine when not.
