So I recently traded a fellow CGNer for a Sig Mosquito, and I have to admit I was a little nervous taking her to the range today! With all the BS I have read online about FTF, and FTE I was expecting to have to go through all kinds of ammo to find something to work.

So I went to the range and picked up 2 boxes each of Blaser, Thunderbolts, Yellow Jackets, and some blue box Federal. Of all the ammo I bought only the Federals were really bad and didnt cycle at all. The Yellow Jackets had an occasional feed issue, which I think was just because of the shape of the bullet, but the Blaser, and Thunderbolts worked flawlessly! I put 100 rounds of each through her with no issues at all!

So in the end I am very happy with my purchase! It just so happens that the Blazer, and THunderbolts also perform extremely well in my 10/22 so I am set with this gun! Now I just need to find a good source for a case of Blaser, at a good price! LOL

Mine only jams after you shoot 2-300 rounds. It likes the fed 525 packs. They are easy to field strip, give them a quick cleaning and your good to go again. Mine now has approx 10000 rounds through it. Recently the slide lock started releasing if you slap your mag in. Any ideas why.

i've heard of some beretta's and others ( i want to say S&W M&P?) that will release the slide with a slap on the mag as you push it in to seat it..depends on the angle though, a 90 degree slap does nothing but securly seat the mag, but a 45 degree slap away from you on the mag as you reload will put it into battery, looked on as a faster way to get your gun up and running again instead of hittin the slide release... but doesn't always go fully into battery though which is the draw back... could the same be true for the sig.. i doubt it..

The mosquito I had cycled fine, problem is... it looked, felt and was sized like a toy. IMO, it's good to get kids/GF into shooting...

All .22's feel like toys IMHO! The only decent ones out there are conversions for the Glocks, or Sig's, and 1911"s! Or the CZ Kadet which was my first pistol, but it to is essentially a conversion, just like the Classic .22 Sig's. I wasnt looking to spen alot on a .22! For the 400 bucks I dont think you can get any other .22 that isnt a space gun! Im not a Star Wars fan so I wasn't feeling the Rugers, or Buckmarks!

Care to elaborate?
This is exactly what Im talking about!

I bought one of the first ones to make it into Canada.

I'm not kidding when I say that it jammed 3 or 4 times per mag. The ONLY ammo I could run through it was CCI minimags, of which I couldn't find half the time.

That's great that you love yours, but I'll pass.

P.S. - good luck with the pot metal slide.

Any 22 that has to blow a slide and #### a hammer can be ammo sensitive. The mosquito is a good sub cal trainer. It's fairly accurate and fun to shoot. Store it with the hammer cocked to take some tension out of the spring.

Glad she works for you! My 2 sucked donkey balls. High standard semi for me and a S&W for my revolver.

Enjoy! I love rimfire pistols...Cheapy good times!

The Beretta 71's are defnitely NOT ammo sensitive and they have an external hammer. Unfortunately most of them require 12(6) status.

Never again will I buy a .22 semi-auto pistol
Geez, that's too bad. A buddy showed me his Mosquito and I liked it. Cycled fine with the ammo he had. I still have my old Ruger MkI and that old pistol cycles reliably except when it's oiled and you go shooting at 20 below without degreasing first
