Also managed to take my new Mosquito out last night. I brought 100 rounds of American Eagle lead round nose, 100 rounds of Federal Lightning lead round nose and 60 rounds of Federal JHP bulk pack Walmart special. First off, the pistol feels great in the hand, points well and has a decent single action trigger pull. The double action trigger pull is atrocious and I did not bother shooting it double action. The sights are quite nice and the aimpoint type sight was easy to sight in and a blast to use. The pistol is quite accurate, was getting 2" groups at 20 meters firing 1 round every second. Slowing it down some and I was able to shrink the groups to 1" with the iron sights, about the same for the aimpoint. Thats the good part. The bad part is reliability. Every single time I would load the mag to 10 rounds, chamber a round, fire, it would eject the empty and not rechamber another round. I even tried downloading to 9 rounds and it still happened, downloaded to 5 rounds and still was having this issue. Then it would happen randomly and was really quite frustrating. I also had 5 FTE with the American Eagle. It seemed to like the high velocity bulk pack of hollowpoints the most, I had the easiest time getting through a mag with that ammo. I was using the short fat recoil spring for high velocity ammo, I am going to try using the long skinny white spring for regular ammo next time and see if that helps. Out of the 260 rounds I fired I only had 5 mags run flawlessly without any hiccups or jams. Can't say that I am all that impressed with it. I expect that from a 200 dollar pistol, not a 575 dollar pistol. My Hammerli Xesse runs any ammo flawlessly. Have never had a jam with it. I love it. This SIG, well, I will give it another range outing with the reduced power recoil spring and see how it runs. At the end of the range session last night I went to put the pistol away and saw that the right side slide mounted firing pin safety had fallen off the gun. I managed to find the screw and the lever and put it back on. I tightened it up and will have to keep an eye on it next outing. If I can get it working properly and not jamming or shedding parts this would be an excellent pistol, otherwise right now it is starting to look like a waste of money.

[...]I was using the short fat recoil spring for high velocity ammo,

Well, there's your problem.

I put 250 RWS Club through mine the other day, using the right spring (the white one), and it was totally reliable.

Similar accuracy to what you report.

Fun little toy, great for new shooters or smaller builds.

That's the ####z, I'd be disappointed too. I would've expected better from sig, maybe you got a lemon. I wouldn't give up yet though, definitely try some different brands of ammo. All of the ammo you have mentioned will not work in my S&W M41 whatsoever (will not clear chamber and eject).

I think Larinu had the right idea with his. He just bought a heap of cheap stuff and just shot the heck out of the gun. It took a bit of breaking in, but the gun ran flawlessly after a a thousand or two of rounds went downrange.

Well, I have another 2k of rounds at home here and I will continue to try. Hopefully using the white recoil spring will help otherwise it will be on its way to the warranty center.

I haven't even tried the other spring yet, I just left the white spring in it since new. I fired 300 mini-mags downrange just to break it in and I still have the occasional problem with one mag not holding the slide open when empty - that's it for problems while using mini mags.

Today, I tested some other ammunition. I was able to fire 40 CCI standard velocity with 1 failure-to-feed and 30 Remington subsonics  through it with 3 failures-to-feed. All of my FTF's seemed to happen when it was the last round getting fed.

I'm very pleased with my Mosquito so far!

I am quite happy with mine. I had a few problems early on with FTFs. Once I found the two screws that hold the barrel on were slightly loose, I corrected that and added a little blue loctite, no more FTFs. One weird thing it does though, is if the gun is cold, it has a problem extracting the first round fired. This problem seems to be less frequent as I put more rounds through the gun. Everyone and his dog has shot my Mosquito, and I would guess it is creeping up on 2000 rounds. I have not tried the other spring as I see no need, it will cycle subsonic ammo just fine. thankfully it seems to like the cheap and cheerful ammo the best (Win Wildcat, Rem Thunderbolt). All in all, I am very happy with it, and when I wear it out I will buy another!:D

I still have the occasional problem with one mag not holding the slide open when empty

use the heavier spring. mine did this too when shooting high velocity ammo. i think the slide is moving too fast for the stop to catch it. problem solved when i put the heavy spring in.

Keep the Hammerli, sell the Sig.

I've put thousands of rounds through my Xesse and not one FTF or FTE with every different brand of ammo you can find. Worst problem I ever had with the Xesse was the slide not staying open after the last round fired.

Wasn't the mosquito supposed to be the replacement for the Xesse / Trailside? Doesn't sound like a very good replacement so far. Even the range reports list problems.

Just my .02. Hopefully the Sig lovers won't burn me at the stake.

just talked to the local gunshop and next batch coming in should be cheaper
with no scope/mount/holster...
need one :)
