After spending time reading and watching Youtube reviews, I got a Sig from the EE as one of my Xmas gifts to me. Knowing that it was fussy, I expected a few problems when I took it out yesterday since I didn't get any CCI ammo before hitting the range.

Overall I was superised and pleased. I brought out some black box Winchesters and Fed bulkpack ammo to feed it and had no issues with the Winchester and some problems with the Federal 3 FT Fire and 2 FTE jams. 2 of the 3 FTFs had to be removed from the barrel with a small allen key (the smallest thing in my range tool bag) I was just using the spring that was in the gun so I don't know if it is the weak or stronger one.

I fired about 10 mags in total so the gun did well IMO. We all know that .22 ammo is not the most reliable and it was snowing when I was shooting so some of the cases may have gotten wet loading the mags. I have had FT Fire with Federal before in my rifles in the summer and with the weather now, I think the pistol did well.

I hit Crappy Tire today and picked up some CCI stingers to try but the white crap is falling again so that will have to wait untill tomorrow.

I queried P & D before I bought mine regarding jams...they indicated they were unaware of any problems....well, there are......it only seems to like CCI Mini Mag...and to have to use that or Stingers sure adds to the cost of shooting...
My Ruger Mk. 111 eats everything....
My suggestion...take a pass on the Mosquito...

You should make sure your using the white spring. Thats the one I found the best. I have some problems with with the first mag, sometimes two rounds don`t fire but thats until it gets warmed up. After that everything that is over 38 grain it will shoot.

I just checked the bag of stuff that came with my sig and the spring in the bag is silver so I assume the white one is in the gun. I will take a look after shooting tomorrow.

Thanks for the tips guys.

Well in my pistol case I had a red and a white spring. I don`t know why one of yours is silver, well maybe cause the white paint came off. The paint is coming off of mine as well after being used for a while. It depends if the psitol was used before by someone before you.

should look like this

I've always wanted a Mosquito, but I do not like the looks of that barrel weight on the end, I guess I could always go for the extended threaded barrel option.

Oh ya, maybe I should add this just for anyone new to the Mosquito, you have to choose either the barrel weight version or the threaded barrel version, as they both extend the barrel the required length for Canada law, the Mosquito in orginal form has a barrel under 4.25 in and thus is illegal in Canada.

Yes, the barel weight is removeable with the supplied allen key. Personally I prefer it to having a bit of the barrel sticking out.

I bought my Mosquito used so it is very possible that the paint has worn off the springs. Like I mentioned, I used the spring that was in when I got it from the prevous owner. I assume the spring installed was the one that worked best for him.

No more snow falling so I'm going shooting!

Shot the stingers and they were better. The one thing that I have noticed is that the first round from the mag seems to be the one that has the fail to fire problem. Not sure why but after I eject the round all the others work fine in most cases.

When I run the ejected round through the gun again it fires... That seems a little strange.

I don't own one but have considered picking one up more than once... The first round failure, is that only with a full mag or first round no matter how many you load in? Does the failed round show signs of a light strike? I've had semi' rimfires that wouldn't quite close the breach fully and resulted in light strikes. I wonder is the problem is related to drag on the slide from the upward pressure of the rounds in the mag...?
