CZ Shadow hands down. I'm not saying there is anything wrong with the Sig. Some pistols just feel better in one's own hands. For me that is the CZ line of pistols.

Is a trip to Calgary out of the question? You could hit up Calgary Shooting Centre - they have both the Shadow and the 226 for rent. You'll be able to try them both and decide what is best for you.

I chose the Shadow.

I have a CZ and a Sig. Both are great pistols but the CZ 75/85 pistols feel more natural in the hand. I also love the lower bore axis. It really helps with muzzle rise.

Sweet! Thanks for the tip, calgary is 2.5 hours away which bets edmonton @ 5 hours.

Looks like a road trip is in order.

:)

According to my LGC it will work but the advice is conversions are not the best way to go. If I want to save $ on ammo start off with a .22 then go 9mm and buy a .22 handgun first, not a 9mm that has a conversion kit like the Kadet.

:)

A sig in 9mm will have very little muzzle flip. While the cz is a nice pistol I don't care for the small gripping surface on the slide. Also vote for Calgary shooting centre. They have the pistols and the 22 conversion kits as well as srt and e2 kits.

I had a CZ75b, sold it and bought a Sig 226 Elite E2. Like the Sig better. I can't fault the CZ75 or Shadow (tried one) as they are excellent guns. I don't think you can go wrong with your two choices. Try both and buy the one you like better. Guys going for competition usually opt for the Shadow. You can go to 4 calibers with the 226.

All steel SIG is going to cost you at least 3 times the price of the Shadow.

Think your math is off a little. Sig is more expensive, for sure. Sig's base model is all metal (alloy frame and SS slide) for about $900-1050 or so... depending where you buy and the features it has (sights/grips/etc). SS Elite 226 is around $1300 or so. A range buddy got his new SS Elite for $1100 on sale :)

Quick question, handguns are way cheaper in the US so what's the problem/hassle with buying there? I live 2 hours from the AB/MT border.

Sorry for the can of worms on this question!
