Sig or H&K???

HK is better built, better finish and arguably more accurate right out of the box. With that being said, its louder than the SIG and has a weird recoil feel to it. I am serioulsy impressed by my USP and its quality. After several thousand rounds of all mixed junk, I have had no FTF or any other issues. As much as I think HK is the best choice, at a later date I would like to add the Stainless 226 inn 9mm to my collection as I like the weight and feel of it. I would recommend you shoot both prior to buying...as they have both very different feels to them...

I would either get 9 or .45 though...as .40 in my humble opinion is just awhole lot of flash and noise...and i dont like it....ymmv

The SIGs outlast the HKs by a large margin. I just recently expanded my HK junk collection with one frame and another slide.

I don't think he means they are Junk. Keep in mind the shooting edge is a good testing ground for pistols. Being a rental shop they see many many rounds. Believe me it gets busy in there. A few years ago I was there when a Walther p99 packed it in. So I take his word for it. Like the Glocks great guns but with lots of traffic they tend to break.

i take your word for it but i just pick up a usp 45 from them and just want to know why the said there junk is there something really bad with these

Keep in mind that redleg's "testing" is anything but scientific. It's not like he takes two guns of the same caliber and shoots the same type of ammunition through both to see which one fails first. How can he know exactly how many rounds went through each particular gun at his range, not to mention which type of ammunition was used? I asked this before, but I don't ever recall him replying.

All sorts of people make all sorts of unverifiable claims on the Internet. On sigforums, there was a supposed police armorer who said that his department's P220s started falling apart after 5,000 rounds. Was that true? Who knows. I'm not saying redleg is making things up, but he consistently claims that HK's are unreliable without providing any concrete details. Given HK's general reputation, I must say I'm a little skeptical.

It failed. I was there - didnt see it happen but saw the pistol after.

With as many rounds that go threw the Shooting Edge's pistols I dont think anybody has to worry about pistols failing like they do. Sigs last longer than HK's? Who knows but with video games glorifying the HK many more people are going to go into the Edge and want to shoot the USP than the 226.

Well actually I do compare similar caliber guns, and only use the same ammo in guns of the same caliber. For example we use only Winclean ammo in the 40 and 9mm guns. Furthermore while some guns are more popular than others, they all get used at approximately the same rates since if the Glock is out someone will use the HK instead and so on. No I can't say that any one gun has fired 23,435 rds, but I can say that I expect a $1,000 gun to last one year and that on average it will see 25,000rds in that time. No HK has lasted that long. Many SIGs (in the same caliber) have lasted 3 years.

Note also I never said HK guns were unreliable or even fragile. I am simply pointing out that in my sample size (12 or so of each), over the past 4 years, SIG handguns have lasted 2-3X longer than HK. That is a concrete detail and you can do with it what you want.

Also note that I don't distribute either brand, R Nichols does both, and will sell you whichever one you want to buy. I don't have a vested interest in either.

Just curious as to what type of failures you had with the HK, I had a firing pin go on me. Also, how about FTF/ FTE with the SIG vs HK.

They are both good guns. I wouldn't be afraid of either one. Even if the HK does not last as long as Sig, I doubt you would shoot either one to the end of their life expectancy.
