After more than ten months and with considerable stretching of my infinite patience (yeah right!) I got one of those great emails from Seth at Lantz Shooting Supplies. Seth has been following my order since we placed it last July and knew I would be excited.

I got over to the store within the hour despite knowing the pistol would be held hostage pending formalities. The many pictures I have ogled over the months do not fully represent the real thing. The P-210 has all the beautiful fit and finish features I have read about. I cycled the gun and tried the controls all of which were precise and easily operated.

The grips are an improvement over most I have seen on line as they are more crisply designed and of the same wood colour and finish as other NILL's I have. These also have the SIG "Logo" and effective checkering.

Just because most of you want to enjoy a long weekend, the transfer will have to wait until Tuesday morning.

I came home and loaded up the magazines I had purchased while waiting. As soon as possible, I'll be back to Silverdale to work on the material for a range report to follow. The pistol fits perfectly into the holster I had made by Kramer Leather so I'm GTG. As my grandson would say, "Only three big sleeps to go and it will be Tuesday!!

P-210 Legend Target

Nice - I've been dying to try one of these out (or better yet drop cash on one) but oh man that's a lot of coin!!!

Congrats!!!

Which Kramer holster did you get??

I got the Forward Tilt Scabbard in cow. It is solid and well finished. The Kramer guy was a pleasure to deal with and very understanding as this is a relatively new gun and slightly different from the fixed-sight model.

Be specific as the holsters will not interchange well.

Yep, this is definitely not in the "Saturday-night special" category and is priced accordingly. In the hand, it feels as good as my 1911; rock solid and finished like a piece of guy-style jewelry.

I wasn't thrilled with the pictures I had seen of the stock grips. I was prepared to lay out another $250 for NILL's. There's no need because that's what I got.

There were three guys in the shop fondling the pistol with me. All of us have hands that are very different and yet each of us felt the gun had been made for him alone. Amazing!

Pictures will follow with the range report as soon as I can get the gun into my hands. It was painful leaving it there today. :-(

Simply the finest 9mm pistol in the world...hands down.

I couldn't stomach the cost of buying one so I did the next best thing...try my best buddy's P210......sweet!!!

You're going to love everything about it. From the tremendous precision of the slide to frame fit...the controls...and that awesome trigger.

Tuesday must seem like a year to you right now...LOL.

ummmm.....are we missing something here? Sorry to hate but put a stock image up or something. Anyone else have a P210 to keep this thread going before the OP gets his gun?

Thanks

That's a good idea. This is a stock shot:

It took a while to find one with most of the features of my pistol. The main difference visually at this point are the grips which to me are much improved.

Mine are closer to stock NILLs with a different checkering pattern and edge treatment. The colour is now the same as we are used to seeing with NILLs and I think the wood has been changed.

The other differences from the fixed sight and older models are FS checkering instead of serrations and a squared-off trigger guard.

I should have posted this picture earlier. Thanks. If all goes excruciatingly well, I'll post a range report mid week.

Is the trigger group removable like the real aka Swiss P210s?

From what I have read, there are few differences from the Swiss guns some of which are regarded as improvements by some. I emphasize "some". According to some I have read, removing and servicing the fire control group is not difficult. One of the steps is to remove the screw under the beaver tail. So far I haven't been able to find a set of detail strip instructions but field stripping is a breeze. As far as deeper cleaning is concerned, I understand that the internals are well protected against the crud and so it's not a frequent requirement. I may consider an aerosol blast of CLP followed by a blast or two of compressed air. I'm going to resist the urge to tear it down to bare bones as long as I can.

The price at my local shop (Reliable) is $2,699.99. If someone puts one up in the EE it will, in all liklihood, be a situation where they shoot 2,000 rounds through the gun and then try and sell it for $2,700 + shipping (if not more) because these guns are supposedly "rare". The guns are currently being made over in Germany. They are not rare at all. If you want one, just order one. Don't over pay.

There are several site sponsors that have the original Swiss ones at around $2,100 to $2,500.

Shotgun news had a cover story article a few months ago comparing the 210 legend to the original Swiss 210's, and their conclusion is that the 210 Legend has a lot of improvements added to it which make it the better pistol. The main one being no "hammer bite". They didn't use a real high two handed grip like every uses now back in the 1950s. Back then they shot pistols with one hand. The 210 legend also has more modern sights and other improvements.

Some kind of a P210 has been on my list for awhile now. Nemo/Roger seems to have every variation ever made (just about), and every time I start thinking about buying one he shows me an even nicer more expensive one. I only want one. Hard to decide which one to get.

Ee ?

So, how hard is it to find on EE, and what are the prices..?? for the newer Legend model that is..

Knowing how long I waited and the shortage of the Target model in Canada, I doubt you will see it on the EE except for someone trying to turn a profit or at least to break even.

No one will give you an ETA if they don't have it in stock and any BO's they hold will be for people that may have ordered many months ago.

My LGS does have one in stock and has others on order. PM me for details if you are interested.

Nice but...

I too had an opportunity to handle the new Sig P210 Legend at the SHOT SHOW this year, and it is truly a fantastic pistol. It also is a fantastic price. There are many 9mm pistols that will shoot as well in the P210 class. I will venture that my STI TargetMaster will shoot as well as or better than the SigSauer P210, for less money.

I hope to get my legend at Silverdale this week. It would be fun to meet you both.

Challenge

Thank you for your kind remarks about the Sig P210 Legend. That is quite a challenge indeed. However, in order for a challenge to determine the validity of your claim, the shooters of the challenge must be eliminated.
There are many guns that will outshoot the ability of its owner. So the only way to satisfy your challenge would be to lay down some ground rules to start:

Distance is the key. So the test would have to be at the 50 yard line.

The firearms would have to be tested using a Ransom rest only.
