I know they're pricey. Anyone out there with any real opinions, ie. owns/ or have shot one? I like the look of the p210-5 target. There is one back east with two barrels for $2500. christmas is coming, thanks

New it would be $3600 with one barrel.

Great pistols. I don't own a 210, but I get to shoot them once in a while.

Very precise pistols with a very good trigger. Perfect for 25m and 50m targetshooting.

But I'm not so sure if they're worth 3600.-, if you can get one for 2500.-, go for it.

The new production P210s are all heavy framed guns, and they offer an american style magazine release. Every test target that I have seen is a 1.5" -2" 50m cloverleaf. The best HK USP Expert, and SIG X5 test targets I have seen had larger groups shot at 25m. The P210 is worth every penny, but that kind of performance is not cheap.

I am ordering in one of my own with side magazine release and fixed sights. This version is only $3200.

is $3200 some kinda special dealer demo pricing??? because the side release p210 /w micrometer sights is $4599 on the TSE price guide....

An Internet friend has one, praises it, but says it does bite the hand that feeds it. Regards, Richard :D

The new models have extended beavertails to avoid that problem.

My personal view of the P210 is that it is overrated. First of all, it's a rather dated design, heel magazine release, hammer bite, only holds 8 rounds of 9mm. Plus although it's single action I've never been that impressed with the trigger pull, I think because it's quite short in height and you don't get as much leverage on the trigger as with some other pistols.

The current ones being made by Swiss Arms have a beavertail to correct the hammer bite problem plus a thumb mag. release, but what can you use an 8-shot 9mm pistol for, exactly? Any serious bullseye shooter is going to use a .22 or something in .32 S&W Long for example. Even the new model isn't really competitive in IPSC. There are some service pistol events they can be used for, which is what they are used for in Switzerland, but mainly you're buying an expensive toy, IMO.

Yes, they are very accurate 9mm pistols, but having done some comparison testing I'm certain they're no more accurate than the Sauer Sport pistols currently being cranked out like the X-Five. Actually there's also a comparison of the P210-5 and the SIG-Sauer P226 Sport II SL (which has a bull barrel) in the April 2002 issue of Caliber, and the P226 is more accurate with some loads than the P210-5, although I'm not sure it's a statistically significant difference. The X-Five also has a much more adjustable trigger than the P210.

Parts are easier to get for the Sauer Sport pistols too, because a lot of them are the same as in the P226. Unless you find one at a good price, have small hands or you want one for your collection, I wouldn't run out to buy one.

I guess I agree with about half of what cybershooter says. for practical shooting an 8 round magazine is not a great option. however, I have seen a dozen 50m test targets for the new P210s, and every one of them measured less than 2". The last P226 Sport we had in had a comparable 25m target! Sorry, but the P210s (at least the new models that I am familiar with) out shoot all the HK and SIG target guns that I have seen. Parts are also simple to get, and I have a pretty good supply here right now.
What purpose does an accurate pistol have? Well that is pretty much up to the buyer.

From the April 2002 issue of Caliber:

Results of ten-shot groups shot at 50m:

Load.............................P210-5 Heavy Frame......P226 Sport II SL

Magtech JSP TC 95gr.............38mm.......................57mm
Lapua CEPP TC 120gr.............49mm.......................38mm
Geco FMJ 124gr....................93mm.......................95mm
Winchester FMJ TC 147gr.......65mm........................47mm

Average:.............................61.25mm..................59.25mm

Which to me indicates no practical difference in accuracy between the two guns. It's interesting to note they also included a long slide Les Baer 1911 in 9mm in the test, which got an average of 51.15mm and a S&W Performance Center 9mm (which also has a long slide) and that got an average of 52.75mm

So in fact the P210-5 was the least accurate of the guns they tested. Although whether four loads is a statistically significant way of measuring it, I'm not sure.

My experience comparing my Sport II SL against a couple of P210s in Switzerland using the Swiss Ordnance ammo and Geco FMJ was that there was no meaningful difference in accuracy, which confirms the results they got.

The P210 got a reputation for being super-accurate back in the 1950s and 60s. Well back then, I have no doubt it was the most accurate 9mm out there. Nowadays with the advent of CNC tooling and the growth in target shooting with 9mm pistols, it's an accurate pistol among a fair number of other accurate pistols.

I have a 210,I have to agree with cybershooter about using it for competitions. But i still like it. They do shoot good last summer with 3.8 grains of Tightgroup and 124 Montana Gold bullets. At 50yds i got 8 out of 10 rounds inside an inch from the bench.Shooting off hand i prefer the Smith @Wesson ppc9 and you can get a new one for the price of a used 210.

Great article, but it appears to represent a sample of 1, so I am hesitant to make the same generality. Based on the test targets shipped with the respective guns there is a much greater difference. The P210-6S I currently have in stock has a 33mm group on the 50m test target.
