I was just tooling around on the web and came across a page at "ammoclip" that was listing mags that are supposed to fit both the Sig P220 and the Browning BDA, manufactured (branded) by Sig. Is that correct? I thought BDAs were double stack? Is the caliber correct? Can anyone verify this? Are non-Sig manufactured (branded) mags interchangeable too? Is it a specific type of mag? Enquiring (and confused) minds want to know.

Here is the link (remove spaces): http: //www .ammoclip.com/S/sig_220.htm

Cheers,

When the Sig P220 was first imported into the US, they were known as Browning BDA's. They were a single stack .45 (7 round magazines). The first ones came in with a heel release. When the Sig P220 was fitted with a button mag release they were known as the Sig P220 "American".

Just to add to this, they were sold by Browning as the BDA (Browning Double Action) pistols, they were still made by SIG. They were the early heel mag release versions. Kind of like the deal with Springfield Armoury XD pistols, or STI now carrying the Grand Power under their name.....
