A quick overview of this gun for anyone interested in 10mm's. Some people are aware that I have a deep love of the 10mm platform and really enjoy these hand held rocket launchers. I had to order this gun and it took almost 5 months to make its way to me. It comes with all the standard new gun accessories and two 8 round magazines. I used some American Eagle 180gr I had kicking around....I usually prefer Federal in the 10mm Auto.
First off, this gun is a solid piece of steel. Weighing in at about 3lbs when loaded it fills out your hand with a positive weight that telegraphs the power of the 10mm round even when the gun is static. The slide stop required two thumbs to depress and when the slide went into forward the lock up was solid. This is not a mercurial gun. Its 5 inch barrel and the weight balances incredibly well with minor palm push providing great sight alignment.
The fun part...the SAO trigger has the sharpest break of any out of the box gun I have ever fired. The felt recoil can best be described as a .45 Super if any of you have fired that round. The heavy springs and the slide rode the cycle through with minor muzzle flip and the return forward brought the muzzle right back on target. I spent a majority of the time shooting this 20yards. Since the 10mm auto round has serious legs i took it out to 50yards and put a magazine through it. I'm 2 weeks back from right eye surgery and as a dominate eye it still has a little healing to do but the Sig Sights and a little experience still let the gun do most of the work.
The slide seemed to take a beating from the brass on ejection so i imagine this kissing will become the norm.
If you are a Sig fan and been thinking of a P220 this NOT a gun for you. This is truly a 10mm shooters gun it just happens to be made by Sig.
If you are interested in a deeper look at the gun this is a pretty good article
