mdbuckle,
My 220 was issued to me in `85. I carried it as a duty gun for five years, until I retired in `90. From `90 to `92, I was a rangemaster at a local club and usually shot it five days a week. From `92 to `96, I worked for the courts and carried it as a duty gun.
I kept a rough count of the rounds through it in the last 21 years. It's in excess of 75,000. The majority of the ammo was my lightly loaded 200 gr lead SWC. It fires factory ammo as well as my reloads. While using good ammo, I have never had a FTF or FTE. I have had to replace the trigger return, the decocker, and the recoil springs.
In `90, I had Robar apply NP3 to the slide, hammer, trigger, etc. I also added wood grips. It still shoots as well as the day it was issued.
Here's a photo:
The piece of German pot metal shoots a higher bullseye score than my 41 year old Python. That surprised me. I think it's the size of the bullet.
I have also fired the 225, 226, 228, and I own a 230. All of them are excellent guns. I don't think you can go wrong with any Sig product.
