I think I need one! ;)

At first I was after a standard alloy frame one (I used to own one of these)...but now...

I'm just interested in hearing from you who own one or who have fired one...please help fuel the fire! :D

YUP got one, its a 220 sport stock! Its an awsum shooter! I ve had to put it up for sale to help fund another SIG purchase.

Hi RT,

And I've been looking hard at that one of yours...a very nice looking gun! ;) In your ad you mention extended controls...how far are they extended compared to the standard ones? I couldn't really tell from your pictures.

Jeff.

Ya, you cant tell from the pic, but they extend a signifigant way out( at least to me its signifigant) Its the mag release button, deckocker, and slide release that kinda stick out from the frame so that there not so flush to the frame or grips. I guess its pretty hard to descibe so pehaps tommorow I will see if I can get you a descent pic!

Hope that`ll help!

That does help, thanks! - Jeff.

I have the 226ST and love it, just got an alloy framed 229, and kinda of wished that I got an ST again, my 220 will be an ST

I had a P226ST and now I have a P220ST... just got it so haven't firead it yet

but one thing I noticed is that it's noticably ligher than P226...and probably has a better trigger too.

Stainless P226 is 42oz -pretty heavy gun! Stainless P220 is 'only' 39oz...I prefer the weight of the P220 :) I'm pretty sure alloy version is ligher as well...

I think the slide might be lighter with a big hole in it for the barrel and all, barrels is thiner in .45 as well... I've been working a lot lately so haven't looked it over properly...

The basis of my SIG collection is a 220(45ACP), and two 226's..one in 9MM, and another in 40S&W ( + a .357SIG barrel)...all in stainless.
The extra weight makes them a pleasure to shoot at the range...don't think that I'd want to lug them around all day (CCW).
I highly recommend the 45ACP models...accurate, reliable....(I am unlikely to ever part with ANY of the stainless units).
I also have a 220 (alloy frame) with DAK trigger, as well as a 226 (9MM, DAK) and finally, a 229 (9MM, DA/SA).
I used to think that my Glocks (21, 19,17,34) were the basis of my WITSHTF collection, but I tend to shoot my SIGs more often...Class will tell!:D

Thanks a lot fellows...I think I will go with an ST over an alloy one. If I don't, I may always wish I had.

I really enjoyed shooting the alloy one that I had a couple years back...but I've got an alloy P226 on it's way to me - so I'd better go all stainless for the P220 just to keep things different. ;)

Thanks for the picture Jim - that's a beautiful pistol.

220st

I bought one last year and I love it. The extra weight really helps tame the recoil and it is "spooky" accurate. It's a pistol you can shoot all day and not get beat up. I thought about a 1911 but I am familliar with Sig's and can work on them with no problems and now I'm really happy that I stayed with Sig's.

Thanks kxc,

They sure are nice guns. :)

"Spooky" accurate doesn't sound like something to be afraid of, either. ;)

I am still trying to decide if I should spend the $1300 plus that an ST will cost me, or get a CPO alloy framed P220 for about $850.

Thanks a lot for your feedback.

Jeff.

As I'm "spending" your money I say get the ST, for all of the above reasons plus they are easy to keep clean etc.
If you decide to go with the CPO make sure you get a good look at it first. I think Sig has cleaned up their act but there have been some finish problems with CPO's. I found a 226 at a local shop that had the problem so I know that they are here in Canada. (Check Sigforum for details.) You may even find a CPO ST as I understand that there were a lot of them released in the States but I don't know if any made this far north.

Jeff-I have a 220 I bought 35yrs ago, it was called Browning BDA, made by Sig-Sauer in west Germany. I think that was before Sig bought out Sauer. Its the alloy frame an the slide rails are not worn, still has all the coating on them.

Hi Pimlott,

Nice to hear from you! :) I hope you are keeping well.

Does that gun of yours have the magazine release in the bottom of the grip frame?

Jeff.

sig 220

Hi Jeff--
