So I picked up a conversion kit for my Sig and was delighted to find that it will shoot anything, even cycles 100 percent with subtonics. It is great to know I can feed it any damn thing I choose however it means that my search for accurate ammo is literally without boundaries, so rather than buy some of everything I figured I would ask the hive what you find to be very accurate pistol ammo in 22lr.
Thanks guys.

hey new, what are your feelings of no last shot hold open on the .22LR P226?

I don't know if they are all like this but the followers on the two mags it came with have tabs on them that hold the slide back. They don't engage the slide lock but a little tug and thumb on the lever locks it back. I am not at a point with pistol shooting that I am practicing rapid mag changes so it really doesn't bother me.

Sounds like someone upgraded the followers on your mags. The factory ones don't hold the slide back. I've got two brands of modified mag followers and the GSDesign ones work flawlessly in my 226.

So far, it shoots everything supersonic but haven't tried subs. Hmmm, maybe next time I take it out.

very nice. where does one by these mags? got a friend who loads a snap cap so he doesn't dryfire on last shot. he'll be pleased to hear there's something out there.

Contact GSDesigns. He makes two options. One is just the follower upgrade using your existing 22LR mags. The second is a magazine insert to be used in a regular 9mm mag, these lock the slide back with the slide lock. If you're just getting the followers send him a PM, he might have another shipping option that is cheaper.

Don't they do a complete .22 3D printed magazine too? I only started looking into available options last week and stumbled across his site. I thought I saw one, but it could have been an insert. To date I perpetually keep a snap cap in all of my .22 mags.

You're right! Totally forgot they did full mags as well. Checking out their site, looks like they no longer do the mag insert.

As far as the mags go I bought the kit of the ee. Started loading up the mags at my house night before range day. 8...9...10...11crap...12,13,14,15 rounds. So needless to say these should not be available in Canada. And yes, they are pinned now and I spoke to the seller.

Blackdog makes a follower than you can swap into the .22 magazine. It will hold the slide open and also increases capacity to 15. Someone probably picked them up across the border and swapped them in.

I have a few of the full GSD mags for my 226 conversion and have had zero issues with them holding the slide open on the last shot. Do yourself a favor though and buy an Uplula .22 mag loader. You can thank me later.

As for ammo.............mine feeds anything and everything. 100% reliable in the 3 years or so I've had the kit. Even subsonics. YMMV, I suppose.

I have an uplula for 9mm and 223, you do not need to tell me how great they are. The fact that mine also feeds on whatever throw at it means I have a lot of trial and error for most accurate.

Yeah. That's another story....

From experience, CCI Mini Mags and Winchester 333/555 are accurate enough. The Wins shoot a bit high but the CCI are dead on.

Mine DOES NOT like the Remington bulk stuff. They shoot fine, but are all over the place
