Sig P226 as a first pistol choice

My restricted license arrived in the mail today so I'm very excited and looking at my options for my first handgun. I've handled a friend's P226 and about 3 dozen other pistols over the past few months and I've decided the P226 is the best fit for my hands. I don't need to reach awkwardly for any of the controls...everything fits just right. So, I have a few questions to ask:

- Are there any known issues with this gun?
- Should I be buying new or used for a first purchase?
- When buying used, what would be considered a high or low round count?
- If buying new, who has the best price?
- What parts might I find myself replacing?
- Am I going in the wrong direction with the P226?
- What would be considered essential upgrades for this gun?
- Made in Germany or made in USA?
- How well does the 9mm feed out of the .40 S&W mags?

Nope but there are afew QC issues in the past with parts "ie; take down levers"

Low is under 5000rds, high would be over 20,000rds "in saying that any civi will never wear one out

Recoil spring every 5000rds and trigger bar around 20,000rds

Hell no!

If I were you, I would go with the SIG USA P226R with night sights and Short Reset Trigger "if you have small hands get the E2 grip and short trigger"
 
The 226 was my first. It would probably be the only one if I didn't have some "absurd" addiction. It'll be a great choice. A lot of people seem to say "start with a 22" but wheres the fun in that.
 
Military and police have been using 226's all over the world for a long time now. Battle proven. New or used doesn't matter, new I guess for a first gun in case you need warranty support. Cabelas has the best pricing I've seen so far. Short reset trigger isn't needed but some guys like it. Maybe sights if you want but I like the stock dots. I've shot USA and German manufacture and didn't notice any difference aside from the German missing the rail so fractionally lighter.
 
You can't go wrong with the P226, new or used. Look at the EE, lots for sale in good price range. Start with the 9mm and get a .22 conversion for real cheap shooting as well. Later on, get the P226 in 40 S&W and have even more fun. It is an addiction, I now have 33 SIG pistols.

Your call, used only saves $100 but some people value $100

It doesn't matter what round count they tell you, it's what they want you to hear. Just look for wear & tear...

- If buying new, who has the best price?
The company with the best support has the best price. Pay only a few $ more and get awesome service. Cheaper doesn't = better

It's hard to improve on awesome...

Never tried but heard it's good...

Short reset trigger is always an upgrade idea or buy an elite that comes with it if you like the beavertail.

9mm feeds perfectly in the factory 40 pinned to 10 (check vid-that's a 40 mag feeding 9mm).

Lowest price I've seen was $879 at Cabela's, brand new. Readily available at $925 new elsewhere. Best first pistol. Expand to .22, 9, 40, 357sig with the Xchange kits. Have a 226, 239 and my fave, German 220!
