I am at a loss trying to understand why I can buy a brand new SIG P226 at Cabelas (w 2 mags) for $880. NEW

Vendors are selling "refurbished" p226 for $880 and used p226 are selling anywhere from $800 - $1000 on the EE. Am I missing something?

I am assuming this has to do with specific model of 226?

I am referring to what I believe is just a standard p226 with 2-3 mags.

Nope, you're probably not missing anything...

The refurbished ones are often rail-less, which people will sometimes pay more for.

The EE listings, unless they're something special (Herndon/Tyson's corner import, etc) are usually priced by those guys from Auction Hunters ("WHAT? A DIRTY SOCK?? I can sell THIS for $200 bucks!!")

The price of new SIGs has come down considerably recently. The used market hasn't caught up.

Cabelas had the Sig P226 for $879 for about a month or so-Now OUT OF STOCK... Strong CDN dollar=better prices. I've never seen a Refurbed Sig for more than $800. Most people on the EE ask almost new prices for their guns in a "save the taxes and shipping" type deal. Many don't realize that these have dropped in price.

However, having a huge company sell 100 Sigs at a low price then be out of stock, will not reflect too much in the resale value, as the customer will have to wait for a cheap deal... You have to remember, $879+ship+tax is still over $1000.

Cabelas Sig prices are great compared to most vendors. Base P220 and P226 models for $879 (compare at $925+). I was checking them out last Thursday, the webite may say On Backorder but they have plenty in-store in the Winnipeg location in 9mm/.40 (226) and .45 (220). They also have the .22LR kits in stock as well for $250 (compare at $300 from the vendors up top).

Cabelas is a huge company with large buying power. They can buy a truckload of Sigs and beat anyone's price. Just have to jump when you see they are in stock. Wish they could get some MecGar mags for the 226, impossible to find at a competitive price in Canada. Hard to find stock in the US too.
