Sig p226 cracked aluminum frame, Can it be repaired

I don't think that the broken rail was caused by an overload. The barrel and/or case would fail before the frame and the locking block would probably show damage from battering from heavy loads. Cracked frames are not unknown on early P226s with high round counts.

You could contact SIG Sauer and see what they have to say, but I wouldn't count on there being any warranty.

SIG does make a .22LR P226 as a complete gun, plus 9mm and .40 conversion kits for same. I would check with Questar to see if your old style slide/barrel assembly would be compatible with a new .22 frame.

well thank you guys for the info question isn't the 22 conversion just a slide and mag, im not sure. the gun has had over 100000 rounds through it though so maybe lack there of reloading skills were not to bad. does anyone know where i could buy a new frame? or should i scrap it and recoup my losses?

OK, so over a 100k through it now we are getting sum where. Whats the age of this pistol?

Id say maybe it was just it time to fatigue.

You can get a 226 in .22 cal. put your top end on it and have spare parts from your existing frame to boot!

The classic .22 sig 226 is a complete gun. It is the 226 frame, with the .22 top end. Your top end should fit on this frame as well.

sig might make you a replacement frame with the same serial number for a price. but you have to send them the old one. colt made me a new ar15 lower with the same serial number when I sent them the old one, but that was years ago, I don't remember what it cost. I have some ex rcmp sigs and two have replaced frames.
