I'm working on an old Sig 226, doing a simple upgrade of replacing the old trigger return spring for the new type, and also put on the new style grips which have more clearance inside for the new spring to sit.

The new spring is supposed to be a drop in replacement for all 226's, and the old type spring is no longer made.

Problem is the new spring has a bend on one leg that keeps it from sitting low and flat on the frame. The "hump" appearance does not look right, and binds when the grips are installed.

Pics below, help anyone please?

I just replaced that spring on my p226. I'll confirm it tonight, but it looks the same to me. My grips are the stiff factory plastic and 1000+ rounds after the replacement I've had no problem with the spring binding.

Thank you raks for taking the time to post a picture!

Your gun is much newer than mine as it has the solid pin rather than double roll pins in the slide. It appears that the hole in the frame for the spring is in a different location, higher up on yours.

I will do more research on Sigforum.com, thanks all.

Yes the Sig trigger spring is a well know issue. It usually surface when some one trys to fit non-sig grips. In your case you may have to put up with the original grips and original spring. I've actually seen springs wear their way through the side of a grip panel, but the gun still worked well.
