Does anyone else find the Sig P226 triggers kinda pinches the finger, esp in DA due to its shape?

Does anyone in Canada carry the slightly straighter TJS custom trigger for the 226? Brownells carries it but unfortunately that part can't be shipped out of the USofA. :(

Here's the Sig factory trigger:

Here's the TJS version

They say Sig's short reach trigger(not short reset trigger) tends to pinch the finger, you have the regular trigger that's not known for pinching. Not sure what tj's would do for you.

Try positioning your trigger finger so that the trigger body sits opposite the base(cuticle) end of your finger nail. Just to remind you as low as possible on the trigger without touching the trigger guard.

Ya....that trigger in first pic, is original standard trigger, and in my opinion...the best version. The newer SRT short trigger is horrible in my opinion...very aqward to hold in single action...not enough meat on it. Ive had both.

When I buy my new Sig P220R Combat or Scorpion Elite 220 if it comes with the SRT short trigger, Id swap it out ASAP for the original fatter long trigger. Looks better too...the short trigger looks too whimpy/thin.

I have the factory installed SRT trigger in my Elite Dark. My trigger finger position is as you described ie the front pad of my finger roughly just ahead of the cuticle. I find the tight curve of the trigger tends to pinch. Maybe I just got a wider index finger than you guys. The TJS trigger supposedly has less of a curve (bow?) then the factory trigger.

Best trigger for you, not me. :p

Most of the reports of pinching come from the "short reach" trigger like the one in your second picture. I'm pretty sure that that one would not help you. What part of your finger is being pinched?

The bottom part of my finger. I guess my trigger finger is slightly canted inwards towards my middle finger. Not sure if that's normal but when on the trigger, the bottom curve of the trigger puts added pressure on my finger as it squeezes against the flesh and my fingernail. Hard to describe so here's a pic. The red oval is where I'm getting a bit of a pinch (might not be the best term to use). If I'm shooting slowly, it's not a big issue, it's mostly on multiple double taps or prolong shooting.

Hard to tell, but is that the Sig short reach trigger on your gun? Sig makes two, one like the first pic in your first post and the short reach trigger which looks similar to your tjs pic. You can easily tell the difference between the two, one is fat, other is thin.

Here's a pic of my Sig with the short reach trigger.

As you can see the trigger is thin.

Here's the trigger on my Elite Dark. I guess that's the short reach trigger? Guess I'll have to pick up the regular trigger and swap this one out. Damn it, I just ordered some stuff from Brownells.

Pietro, I might owe ya an apology. I thought I had a regular trigger. My apologies. :)

Just to clarify terminology a bit...SIGs can have an SRT (short reset trigger) which is a trigger that has a shorter than normal reset after firing, or a "short trigger" which refers to the trigger that is thinner than the traditional SIG trigger (like the one in the pic above). The SRT trigger can be either a thin or normal trigger; the use of the imprecise term "short reach trigger" is a little misleading. Don't mean to come off like a jerk but just want to inform. :).

Not at all. I knew about the short reach and short reset triggers but I thought other than the short reset trigger, they all came with the regular trigger (not short reach) from the factory. I never payed much attention to the short reach trigger and didn't know what it looked like till now. Gonna order the stock trigger from Brownells tomorrow unless someone happens to have one kicking around from their upgrade. :)

Call MDcharlton, I believe they're a Sig distributor. Mississauga isn't far from you, although they may not sell to you directly. Guess you may have to order through your LGS if they're stocking the item, not sure. Let us know if you try that route, I need some parts too.
