SIG P226 long trigger and reset

I just got a P226R in 40SW and I've noticed that this pistol has a very long trigger. This wouldn't be the end of the world, but the trigger has to move approximately 80% forward again after firing in order to reset the firing pin, which feels strange compared to my 1911s, and makes rapid follow up shots difficult to keep grouped tight. Is this normal with SIG P226 pistols?

I had a P229R for a while (traded it because hands were too big for it) and I don't recall the trigger or reset being this long with it. Or are all the P229s manufactured with the short trigger?

Is there anything I can do about this SIG? Will a short trigger resolve this?
 
A short trigger will not help to shorten the trigger reset. It will only shorten the reach to the trigger, especially if you have smaller hands. As mentioned above, a SRT (short reset trigger) will help with reset. It consists of a new sear and safety lever. These SRT kits are getting more difficult to come by though since Sig no longer sells them. For a fee, they will install it for you though if you send your pistol to them (which may be difficult if you're in Canada).

After experencing the difference between a Sig with the short reset trigger and ones without, I will no longer purchase a Sig that DOESN"T have the SRT. It just makes an already great gun design even better.

BTW, the SRT's are only found on the "Elite" models and the newer E2 pistols. You can install a SRT kit on any newer model Sig though.

Is it DA/SA or you have a DAK/DAO model?! SIG reset is supposed to be short, even shorter with SRT trigger.
