Hi. I would be interested to hear from anyone who has either of these guns.

Been looking at the Sig locally today but they don't have the HK to compare. The only place I can find that stocks it is firearms outlet. The Sig only comes in 9mm, the HK I could have in .40 or 9mm.

Years ago I hankered after the HK USP when it first came out, and although I like the look and feel of the Sig, I would love to just have a comparison before I make a purchase.

If the SIG has an srt trigger, then the trigger itself is far superior. The p30 has a police/military trigger which has a LOT of takeup before it goes off and takes some getting used to. I love the paddle type mag release on the HK although a lot of people hate it. You won't go wrong with either. You may also want to consider an HK sfp 9

The police/military trigger (LEM) trigger depends on version I thought? There should be an option for a regular DA/SA trigger aswell with the P30L.

The one FOC is selling is a V3 which I think is the standard SA/DA trigger. I don't think that version of the P226 has the SRT trigger. It's not mentioned.

The Mk25 Navy does NOT have the SRT. It's a fairly HEAVY chunk too. You really need to decide metal/poly pistol to narrow your decision.

If you want H&K check out the SFP9. It's very similar the the P30, but more readily available.

I also suggest you check out a Walther PPQ. Great trigger and a very accurate pistol, feels GREAT in my hand. The M1 has the paddle mag release and the M2 has a conventional thumb button mag release. My PPQ M1 Navy has seen 1000s of rounds of training, IDPA and courses and has been as reliable as my compadre's Glock.

My p30 also seems to work best with hotter loads. I get the occasional stovepipe with lighter loads that run fin in my 229. My 229 didn't come with an srt trigger either, I ordered one and it was a 10 minute job and made a huge difference. I prefer the HK simply because it's almost the same in feel as my HK 45 which is one of my all time favorites. I have been trying to talk myself out of the sfp9, but it's a losing battle, although it seems to be essentially a striker fired p30. It also takes the same mags and @ $850 new is a good price for any HK

I had both, the MK25 has a much better stock trigger. It is heavier and might not fit your hands as good (fits me like a charm). To be honest, If you want a DA/SA Hk I would choose the USP, but try them first of course.

I have the Mke 25 Navy. Nice gun, utterley reliable as most guns are these days. I have the SRT trigger in mine and it really makes for a very nice trigger pull. I have Medium Large hands based upon golf gloves and find the grip on the fat side. Not real uncomfortable but I know I would be better served with thinner grips. I prefer the Beretta 92A1 over the SIG to be honest. I find the grip fits me much better and the gun remains flatter in my hands when shooting. The recoil impulse in the Beretta seems to be more direct. Unlike the SIG the barrel on the Beretta does not move which I suspect has something to do with felt recoil.

The guns a=you are looking at really come down to personal preference. Neither will make you a great shooter but you can become one with e=either with practice. Both will serve you well.

Take Care

I have both and the Sig is the one that makes the trip to the range most often. I agree that the HK likes hotter loads at least initially as I found that it took some time to get consistent ejection with some lighter loads sending brass back at me. The pistol itself is very accurate and the adjustable grips help to make it comfortable.
That being said I find the Sig to be just as, if not a little more accurate for me and the grip works very well for me. If you find the grip too large there options for that.

I own a P30L and it feels great in the hands (very customizable). Only shoot 124/147 gr. through it (got the odd stovepipe using 115g). The trigger does take getting use to though, but otherwise, a nice gun....

I have both SIG P226 Legion and P30L LEM trigger. i am not a good pistol shooter at all and I have small hands, and I see them as an accessory to the long guns. So this is my perspective of them as some sort of backups that I only train with them enough to be just ok with them.

P226 is a heavier gun and the DA/SA trigger is much smoother and lighter than the P30L DA/SA. It is easier to shoot P226 for accuracy. I made 40 yard hit at 6" bullseye in DA the first time I took it out, and I am a pretty crappy pistol shooter, too. Despite its weight, P226 is a pretty "slow gun". It takes awhile for it to finish the recoil cycle, guns like Glock are "faster".

HK P30 is lighter, and have the new style European ergonomics that push the hand lower, so your high tang grip with glock doesn't quite work with HK. While the grip push the hands down, it is excellent for manipulating light attached to the dust cover. The slide release on P30L is large enough it can be released by the shooting hand reliably all the time. Saying that, I can't make those 40 yards shot with the P30L that comes with the LEM trigger.

So do I shooter faster split time with the P226, actually not really. The P226 has shorter reset but it also recoils and recover slower. The P30L has longer reset but the gun recoils a bit faster. But yes, the P226 is easier to shoot well than the HK. But as a "tactical gun" that needs to be decked out with light and laser and split time is irrelevant, the HK is better in my book.
