Sig P226 or a clone ?

Get the Sig P226 has it has high resale value and will last you a lifetime.
The only reason to buy cheap guns is if you don't plan on shooting them which totally negates any value in owning them ;)

Remember than an excellent condition high quality handgun can be resold rapidly for the price at which it was paid for.

I recently had the chance to shoot a real sig after owning the np-22 and np-34 for a year.

I enjoy the norincos a lot, they function great and go bang every time. The finish and grips are meh, so is the double action trigger (on the np-22 anyway, but a $4 spring fixes that) (np-34 has great trigger all around).

All that being said, I suggest if you have the $$$ go the .22 p226 way and then buy an exchange kit for 9mm or .40 in the future.

here is a vid of the np-22 at the range:

I also have a vid of shooting the sig 226 too

Have you seen what norincos are going for on the EE?

Quality vs affordability

If there's money in your budget for a Sig, get it!!!
I have a 226 Stainless, love it!! If you want a pistol that will function flawless all day no matter what the ammo you throw down the barrel you will not be sorry about springing the extra dough for a quality piece!!
You can also consider getting a .22 conversion kit for teaching your kids!
This is MHO.

I have a clone, a 226e2 and 229elite. Get the real thing if you can afford it. I've shot maybe 100 out pf the clone and probably 2000 out of the sigs in the last 6months. Trigger on clone is crap.. but it works well for a 300$ gun

you can't even put those two guns in the same sentence. norinco is crap. Worst trigger, slide is gritty. I don't know why you would pay whatever price they're offering for that norinco gun. 100 bucks or 300 bucks, it is garbage. Save a few hundred more and get a p226 used or get a CPO sig. This norinco thing is junk. I shot it back to back with my p226 and couldn't believe the difference. If somebody says they are comparable then they do not know pistols. Stay away from that norinco stuff...all the line of offerings.Cheap and firearms aren't meant to be. Bottom line, you get what you pay.

Get the real Sig. The Used German ones are great.

I just sold my newer Exeter, NH Two Tone P226 at a loss because I much preferred shooting my old beat up Black German Sig P226. Target Sport Centre In ON just got a bunch in for ya!

Hey, if you're on a budget and can't afford the real thing then yes, buy the clone. The more price point options we have the better I like it because it brings people into the sport that otherwise couldn't afford to because of the stupid costs involved. If you are not on a budget then I don't see the fascination for these knock-offs. I can spare a few extra bucks here and there so for me I don't even look at the clones.

If you can afford a Sig, get a Sig.

I have about $800 to $900 I guess I will either go for a brand new Sig in .22 caliber or a used or factory refurb 9mm depending of what will be available for that price as I doubt I could find a Brand new 9mm for that price (including taxes & shipping)

Even if you have to save up for a little while longer, get what you want; do not settle!

Get the real deal, even if it means saving up. Though I admit to having shot a Sig Norinco clone and it shot quite well, even compared to my own real Sigs.

I personally love the new MK25 "Navy", total droolworthy.
Almost makes me want to trade my P226 Stainless...almost. :D

Go for a real sig 226 if at all possible. Better in all respects. That being said, I have a p226 mk25, a p229 and...norinco np-22 clone. But I've always been a tinkerer so i like to work on the np-22 as a project gun/challenge.

I used a New Np-22 to learn on and see if i liked Handgun shooting,I used it for about 8 months and it worked great,I then wanted to upgrade so i traded in the clone for almost what i bought it for and grabbed a Gen 4 Glock 17 with3 mags for 699.99 at the Army/Navy store in Halifax.

Overall the Norc was fine to learn on but left me feeling like i always wanted to upgade it. Cool Aid time..:D

99% of gun owners don't shoot enough to know if their pistol is made of anything more durable than toothpaste. Most people are happy with anything they buy that's shiny or "badass" in some imperceptible way.

As far as Nork/SIG goes, I wrote this in another thread but thought it might interest you.

Where the hell are you finding used sigs for $600? The cheapest one I could find on EE was $700 for a CPO and 2 mags. Mind you it's a sweet little thing...

I can see that the p226 is a favorite but what you guys think about the Sig P229 9mm ? is it a good model ? any big difference with the P226 ? is it as good and what about reliability and accuracy ?

The 229 is a slightly more compact version of the P226. They accuracy and reliability are the same but the P229 is more popular in the states with various federal and LE agencies, since being a bit smaller also makes it a bit lighter and more comfortable to wear in a holster all day.

Here is a review of the 228 copy (228 is older version of 229), and size comparison between the 226 copy

I like the smaller model myself, I shoot better with it. The grip is smaller though, so depends on your hands.
