SIG P226 or P229

This may help.

http://lmgtfy.com/?q=P226+vs+P229

well played sir...

Well P226 has been around a long time, P229 is a newer model is it smaller and that's basically it. P229 requires a longer barrel to classify as restricted. Both come in 9mm, .40 and .357 sig. SA/DA and DAK models (IIRC). What else would you like to know?

I am thinking to get the .22LR one then buy 9mm conversion kit with it. Which one is better for this purpose P226 or P229?

Is the Navy model only comes on P226 only ?

Beside the barrel and magazine, do I need anything else to convert 22LR to 9mm? Is the "kit" contains all I need to convert .22LR to 9mm, or do I need to purchase anything else?

if you using it for CTC then P229, if you live in Canada P226 ;)

If you have small hand the P229 is no better "you will want a E2 grip and SIG short trigger, which is standard now"

You have to go to a store that has both in stock. After you play with both you will have your answer. Sig 101: 229 is just a smaller 226. They are both available in .22lr, 9mm, 357sig and 40. From basic models to elites all do the same some just have more blink (all do the same = same internals).
North of Toronto, Target Sports had both a week ago. Let as know what and how.

I think it's cheaper to get the 9mm version and then buy the .22cal conversion.

What's the difference between P226 and P229?

I'm not clicking or going to links that look not right or funny.

Anyone kind enough to help newbie here?

In terms of reliability and durability, I think the P229 and 226 are about the same. Actually come to think of it, I have never had any issues with my Sigs so I think your choice has more to do with how much money you want to spend. The P229 will be approx $300 more than the 226 due to the "Canadian" barrel. Ergonomics on both pistols are about the same unless you have gigantic hands then the 226 grip may be more suitable due to it being longer. The grip circumference is exactly the same on both pistols.

I think it's cheaper to get the 9mm version and then buy the .22cal conversion.

Actually it's the other way around.

A P226 classic is $599 and that comes with 2 mags, the xchange kit is $379 with one 9mm mag. Total $979 before taxes....

The cheapest P226 I can find is $960 before taxes... Basically the same price as the above... just for the gun, then add the conversion kit and that takes you to over $1300 before taxes...

I did buy the P226 classic and then got the xchange kit. Two guns for the price of one...

Ditto! I think this is what I am going to do and not the other around. Two guns for the price of one.

Conclusion is P226 is bigger than P229. P229 is newer than P226.

Someone mentioned that if it is for CTC get P226, but if I live in Canada get P229. I have no idea what he meant by that.

Why is it Questar sells 9mm conversion kit for P229 for $600?? Aren't they normally around $300? It is called SIG 2 step calibre X-change.

I stand corrected...somewhat. The P229 is more expensive going .22cal first but the P226 is not. I had a P229 Classic and had checked into the conversion kit and just about crapped myself. It was a very nice gun though and shot really well.

Crazy price for sure... They are supposed to be the same price like the others..

Just shop around. Questar is too expensive.

I dealt with them once and will never again. Bought a Glock 23 Gen 4 with a Lone Wolf barrel (106mm) for 999.99 plus taxes and plus shipping(50), then I found the same gun at Sporteque for 819 plus taxes and an IGB barrel, shipping 10 bucks....
