SIG P226/P229 barrels the same?

Does anyone know if a P226 barrel will fit in a P229 frame. Are the barrels the same (caliber aside) other then the length?

No they are not interchangeable, I found a few about this on the sigforum, it comes up about once a week.

The barrel hood being the block shaped area over the chamber? My understanding is that Sig has the chamber end of the barrel as the lock up, allowing the fitment of other barrels without tolerance issues and that a number of aftermarket barrels fit also.

Is that just for 9mm? I know that the 9mm has different dimensions in the P229 but what about 40/357?

Nope it wont work either... Its the same as if you tried to put a G17 barrel into a G19... Different hood lengths. The only real difference between a sig in 40 and one in 9mm is the breachface.
