Sig P226 Short trigger

Any advice on the best way to get ones hands on the 226 short trigger? A few models come with it standard but am trying to see what kinda cost and how difficult it would be to buy seperate. Once I weigh my options it should allow me to fig out if I wanna get one that comes standard or just customize.

I have heard that in Canada all models come standard and SRT is custom only... And heard this to be untrue too.

Any help/clarification is appreciated:)

Are you talking about the Short Reset Trigger package (SRT) or the slimmer (short) trigger? If you mean the SRT then not all models come with that installed.
 
it can be ordered seperate but you need to change the grips for the E2 style also the slim trigger is only availible on custom, there was a modle that came with it but it has been discontinued. best bet is to pick one up that comes with one these are the following 9mm models that offer it
226r-9-scpn (scorpion)
226r-9-dse ( dark elite)
226r-9-ese ( enhance elite)
226r-9-pse (platinum elite)
226r-9-sse (stainless elite)
226r-9-tacops ( tactical operatons
226r-9-xtm-blkgry ( extrem black and gray)
and all these models are availible in .357 sig and 40 s&w also

Why?
 
You can install the SRT on any Sig model. Many of their "premium" models such as the Elite series have it already installed. The E-2 grips have nothing to do with the SRT system. As for the slim trigger Sig has been shipping all their new pistols with one installed. I'm not sure why they changed from the standard trigger but I understand that they may have recently reversed this policy as many people complained that they did not like or want the slim trigger.

I picked up a P226 with the E2 grip and short trigger last year and found the reach too short to be honest (and I've got small hands). Sold the pistol and picked up one with regular trigger and whatever the grips are that came before the E2...liked the feel much better.

Oh really? Thats interesting. First bad thing I've heard about the E2 grip.

Any other feedback from those who have used the short trigger?
 
I have the E-2 grips on one of my 226s and they really do change the grip circumfrence. I did keep the standard trigger on that one though.
The short/slim trigger was an option for many years and with the old stlye grips it allowed people with smaller hands to get better finger placement on the trigger. It didnt change things that much but was the only option and was better than nothing. If you dont need that little bit of extra help you can easilly change the trigger to a standard one. Most people dont need the slim trigger; and that is especially true of models with the E-2 grips, and complain that they get too much of their finger on the trigger and it actually pinches their finger.

Yeah, I loved the texture and feel of the E2 grip but combined with the too-short trigger it also moved my hand lower on the backstrap than I liked--the regular P226 grip allows for a higher grip. I don't know why I didn't like it better--it might be that I'm just used to shooting handguns with longer trigger reaches.
