SIG P226 Slide/Rail Fit Fix?

Hello,

I have an older, made in Germany Sig P226 that has become quite sloppy in its slide to frame fit. The rails are so loose that the slide easily rattles when you shake the pistol in your hand. The round-count is approximately 8,000 a lot of which was Canadian IVI 9mm which runs hot and is hard on handguns (the load is/was intended for the blow-back 9mm SMG). My question is, can the slide to frame rail fit on a SIG be re-tightened? The frame is alloy and would probably crack if deliberately bent, but the slide is steel which could conceivably be corrected with some judicious hammering or vice work. Can this be done to salvage the pistol, and if so, who in Canada could do such work?

Any insight would be greatly appreciated, as would any leads to a suitable gunsmith. The pistol is in otherwise great condition and it would be a shame to have to condemn/destroy it as being "shot out". Right now, it doesn't group particularly well and the slide rattle is pronounced to the point of distraction!

Thanks!

Mark

Hate to say it but I think you might be screwed as the frame is worn. Out of curiosity where did you score the IVI9MM ammo? I heard IVI makes the best ammo on the market but I've never been able to find it anywhere.

If it was a 1911 the answer would be easier. First check and see what Charlton says. If they can't help you then you might want to check with a smith who does

Accurails. They're not cheap, but they might restore a degree of functionality to the gun. But not if you keep running +P+ ammo in it.
