Had my new Sig P226 .22 at the range today only have about 300 rounds through it.
Lots of failure to feed issues. Is this just the break in period ?
Or is there something i need to do ?
Thanks

Likely a break in period. 22 semis are very picky about ammo. Try some high velocity stuff next time out. My 226 with the 22 kit will cycle subsonic ammo reliably. You’ll be fine, just shoot it lots.

I have a P226 in .22LR and another in 9mm. Your issue is the ammo you are shooting. While the slide and the spring on the 22 are lighter than the 9, it's still picky about ammo. Remember that it was developed as a 9mm and they did a 22lr later, so there's still a lot of mass in the slide compared to a buck mark or whatever. Just shooting it a lot won't help unless you change the ammo you're shooting. You need a "high velocity" cartridge. I've tried a couple types of high velocity 22lr but CCI Mini mags are the most consistent. I don't bother with anything else now. Since switching to those, I can't recall any FTF or FTE issues and I was having both on a regular basis. Prior to moving to high velocity, I couldn't shoot a 10 round mag without at least a couple FTF or FTE. It was my first pistol so it was annoying but it was also good practice dealing with failures.

Thanks for the advice.
I have not tried any high velocity ammo because my 1911 .22 will eat anything.
I will try some high velocity ammo in the P 226.

I have the same thing a P226 Classic I had only a couple feed issues right at the start but after that it ran perfect, I am using the GSdesign .22lr magazines with the last round bolt hold open and I have shot golden duds, CCI Blazers and some mini mags

Take the gun apart and give it a good cleaning. I know the OP mentioned it was a new gun, but maybe new to him. I’ve had several firearms- handguns and rifles that had feeding issues that went away after a good cleaning. Higher velocity/pressure ammunition can definitely help as well.

Mine has been good with cci mini mags or blazer and Remington golden bullets. I have not tried Winchester or federal in it. The gd design mags have worked well for me
