Sig P226

From what I've read, MK25 is parkerized throughout for corrosion protection, got a cool gold anchor on the slide and the rail is a true 1913 picatinny rail.

MK25 also has SIGLITE night sights, the older grip pannels and a UID label on the gun and on the case if that matters to you.

heard only mixed reviews about the new big/long extractors, let us know how perform at the range!

that's one other thing the MK25 has going for it, it has the short extractor.

I went with the MK25 myself, but I paid for it... nice find OP :)

I just received the exact same handgun from Cabelas on Friday and can't wait to get it to the range. Love the look and feel of the E2 grips, let us know how you make out at the range as I'm still waiting for a ATT.

From what I gattered, SIG us switched to MIM for the small extractor and encoutered issues as MIM did not apply very well for that part. They also realized it was the most expensive part in the slide assembly. They redesigned the extractor (the large one) taking into account it would be MIM, opened the slide a bit more and managed to save cost by doing so.

I personally have both; For look, I prefer the small extractor but my P226-SSS with the long one ran flawlessly so far!

I read somewhere that the pins for the long extractor are not reusable so if you get it out to clean it you have to put in new pins where with the small extractor you could just pop it out, clean it and put it back.

The MIMS extractor will out live your gun no ifs ands or buts on that one. As for the new extractor, the rule of thumb with any split pin is their only good for one use.

Fair enough, and I don't doubt it but it always comes down to personal preference really... I prefer the short one, the old grip pannels and 1913 picatiny rail myself.
Strange tho how Sig now has 3 different P226 extractor on the market at the same time; internal on the german/X5, short on most (I think) and long the the E2.

Congrats!

I don't believe this model has the E2 grips equipped?

I was going to head to the range today, but misplaced my registration form. Spent all #$*(@$ morning looking for it and found it just now. It's probably really crowded up there right now, so I'll probably just go tomorrow.

And it also has a chrome lined barrel. At least some do (including mine)

The long extractor seems to be showing up on more and more models. And the E2 grips are such a hit, many more models will be shipping with them.

Unless I am mistaken and looking at your photos- those are the E2 grips as i think Sig has made them stock grips for all basic 226's. love the way they feel. Great handgun!

It's a very hard decision on buying a Sig 226, for myself anyways because there are so many really nice ones to choose from. I personally want the all stainless steel 226 elite. More money but my collection is leaning more to the stainless side. I love the E2 grips having smaller to medium sized hands and am wondering if they can be installed on other model sig pistols?

Count me in as one who'd love to have a stainless Elite.. :)
