Nice Looking guns guys! JEC18159, your .40S&W looks unfired in those photos... was it? The finish on the barrel always seems to wear off to a certain point, and that process starts pretty quickly. Awesome guns though. I should have at least one more addition to my SIG family soon (the 239!!).

Here are my pair of workhorses... still looking good in these shots from earlier this year:

ghostie what kind of sights are on those 229's ?

Those are the "SIGlite night sights". They come stock on more and more of the new SIGs these days. They are excellent sights. These two guns are two of the few I never considered changing sights on. Apparantly the SIGlites are either the same or very similar to Meprolight night sights for SIG.

Does it ever look sharp in those photos though! Nice looking gun!

I was also wondering why the mag is unseated in the photos. I thought maybe you were trying to keep everything really mint on that one.

The mags will wear a little bit from the up and down, but the finish doesn't really wear around the catch the way it does on some (like the Hk P2000). The bottom of the gun (the "magwell" i guess you could call it) all the finish eventually wears off of that as well, but you can't see it unless the gun is upside down and the mag is out. Both of my guns are worn there. The finish on the slide is super durable. it's not like the old SIGs. It would take some effort to scratch it. The finish on the frame is good, but it is aloy and it certainly can be nicked. The older of my two guns has a couple of nicks from being hit with ejected brass from other guns, but it still looks great. The older one has a lot of "character" to it. That one is my favorite all time gun, and it certainly has been shot more than any other gun I have ever owned. Here are three videos of me shooting the older (2007) gun:

It's hard to see... Would you say the wear is bad?

Would recommend that holster? I was looking at it and was considering one.

its a good cheap holster, i like it and will continue wearing it. had no problems with it even today in -8 degree weather

not much wear, just two vertical lines that you can see in the middle pic, some scratches around the ejector port and the little bit of barrel wear

I really like the 229 as it fits my hands better than the 226. I've finally got the short trigger too, but have to wait to install it as the takedown lever broke! SIG sent me a new one and I will be fixing it in a few days.

I found a couple more of mine. Figured I'd add them since we've generated so much activity on this thread recently. :)

I too have a P229 .40 and really like the gun. It looks great and shoots great. However, I am quite disappointed in the durability of the finish. I've only had the gun for about a month and it has already started to show serious signs of wear. The bottom of the slide has a a deep nick, the trigger guard has a piece of finishing missing as well, probably from the trigger lock. I thoroughly clean the gun after every use. I can't believe a gun that costs this much is so fragile. I have a Glock G21 SF which has had much more use and it looks like it's brand new. Not a nick on it. Anyone else have durability problems?

Yup. Attaching my tactical light knicked the paint right off on the rail. I barely tightened the screw. I was really dissapointed with how fragile it was. My Glock appears much more durable. I expected a lot more considering how much I paid for that Sig.

thats the SECOND reason i think rails on sigs are stupid, the first is i think it makes them LOOOK ugly .. and if you need a rail ... chances are you need a taclight. and if you need a taclight on your pistol. you probably DONT care if it gets scratched..

remember were in canada you cant have your cake and eat it too..

Quick question.

I got P226 and now I want P229 if I order one in .40 S&W can I get 9mm and 357 Sig barrel for it? Will I need different magazines to function with other calibers?
