Sorry to resurrect this thread but Ghostie (great posts by the way), I was wondering if your 239 TAC came with night sights?
Cheers!
Yep, as the other guys have said, the "TAC" model is always shipped out from the factory with night sights. I'm curious to see what the "state" of the 239 will be in Canada. How many people buy them? How many people want them? Will we get any holsters, mags, etc? Questar brought some in, that is where mine came from, but no other dealer seems to have brought any in - unlike the situation with the 229's the P2000's, etc. when those (otherwise prohib) guns started shipping to Canada. Everybody was selling them for awhile (and still are in many cases). Many of the site sponsors seemed to get them. The 239's, on the other hand, I am guessing that Questar got something like 5-10 of them. They are all gone now, and it is unclear to me how hard or easy it would be to get any more. The Questar page says "special order". In addition to the one I have, JEC18159 bought one, and there is a VPD guy that I know here in Vancouver (also on CGN) that bought one from Questar. I have not seen any 239's other than mine at the ranges I go to.
They are a fantastic little gun. I bought some Hogue grips for mine from Dave's Surplus in New West (I was surprised to see that they had them in stock, but the VPD issues some 239s in some sections, and that is who they brought the grips in for. Not exactly sure what sections of the VPD those are. Some detectives I believe, or people that don't want to try and conceal a 226 DAK!). I haven't actually tried the Hogue grips yet, but I will do that at some point. And I will put up some pictures on here.
My only "complaint" with the 239, if I can call it that, is that the slide-stop lever is considerably more recessed into the gun than with other SIGs - which means that you have to "watch it" that much more in not holding the slide-stop down. There is actually a cut-out in the left grip panel which it sits down into. I'm sure the idea is obviously to made it easier and more comfortable to carry flat against your body. The whole point of the 239, in my mind, is to make a somewhat smaller - but mostly flatter - 229 that will sit a lot flatter against the body and would be a lot harder to "make" through a jacket. The problem with that is that it is a lot easier to hold that slide-stop lever down when shooting.
Anyway, that is minor. It is a really nice shooting gun. Very accurate - which is a bit surprising given the way most people think of it - as a compact. I don't think there is really much difference between a 239 and other stock SIGs (226, 228, 229, etc.) on accuracy.
I hope some of the other stores get them, but I have the feeling that there isn't exactly a huge supply of them at SIG, let alone in Canada. Topgunsupply in the States had them on their webpage for awhile, but they are sold out now too.
