Hi, I have a bit of a question regarding importing a 80% sig P320 into Canada? I guessing I can legally buy in States cause it is not considered a firearm, and probably (I’m guessing export). But am I legally allowed to bring into Canada if I declare at the border? I want to build a P320 from start to finish and 80% is the only way I can see. Most 80% handguns are recorded by the RCMP as restricted, but the P320 is unlisted. Just curious what I can do, if I can do anything.

The reason it is unlisted may have something to do with the fact that the fire control unit is the registered (serial number etc) part of the firearm rather than the frame. I would suggest you contact your cpc to verify what you would need to do to import.

Let's not give the RCMP any ideas.

Yes , they are all so naive they would never have dealt with this when SIG announced this gun. Give them some credit. They have people working for them that are at least as smart as those on this site. Some may be even smarter.

You can buy kits and frames to change the caliber, size etc. The parts are not designated as firearms. The RCMP most certainly know this.

I think the problem with these is that they don't ship them here, and the reason why they don't is the same as to why the RCMP thinks it has to step in.

<$100...?

Last night I went e-shopping for a pair of grips (aka "stocks") for one of my Smitty's , and was told by the (US) vendor that they cannot export any gun parts "necessary for the operation..." and that includes the grips, UNLESS they cost <100USD. Fortunately for me, the ones I selected were under the cutoff, so they'd be able to send them up. Same thing always happens at Boyds gunstocks.

I'm interested in some of those plastic Siggie bits as well, but nobody up here seems to be selling them.
IDK--If Boyds can't send me a piece of wood, how can any American send us a piece of plastic???

CW the cut off is the maximum they can ship without an export permit. The latter is expensive to get and time consuming. Easier to go down to the US and get one. Replacement frames do not cost more than $100US.
