I am trying to set up my Blue Star with a scope for a summer shooting and looking for advice. I have zero knowledge of this topic. Seems like everyone is praising Bushnell 3200 in x10 magnification. Would that be a good choice for target shooting at 200-300 yards? If I get a rail from Rooster what else do I need to set up this scope on Sig?

I think the arms No 6 riser mount is what I was told.

I am going to be setting mine up this spring. The trick is obviously to get above the rear diopter - this makes everything a bit high.

Depending on the eye relief of your scope you may be able to get away with something a bit lower. Part of me wishes I bought the rooster long rail although you can't pull off the top hand guard unless you remove the rail.

I got the sig one, and It wouldn't be long enough to mount totally in front of the diopter - not sure I'd want that anyhow.

Is yours the flattop?

I have a Leupold 4.5-14 x 40 LR on my Black Special target Flat-top. Low Leupold quick detachable rings took care of my mounting but won't help you much. My bad luck with Bushnell scopes has made me swear off them forever, but that aside do you really need to put a $250 scope on your $3000 rifle?

better than putting a $3000 scope ona $250 rifle. :D

My scope was only $350 but its for varminting, combined with the accuracy of this rifle it will be more than sufficient to poke at gohpers - 2-300 m out.

you have the flatop...

Brock (WRENCHGOD) of Hunters Sporting Goods has my rifle now and is mounting my 3200 Elite10x40 on it. I have a rail mounted on top from Rooster33 and I've asked to have the rear aperture removed to get the scope as low as possible. I'll take pics when I get it back in the next few days or so.

Sometimes I wonder!:D A $250 rifle is less likely to waste a precious day off than a cheap scope. There is probably an intermediate price range between the two extremes though. Just for the record I don't have any $3000 scopes.;)

The ARMS #5 riser is the one you want...

Heres what I'm running at the moment.
The Leupold M8 6X doesn't have near enough support, but until I recieve the extended rail from Rooster (which I've been expecting for over a month now:mad: ) it'll have to do

I'm using a Nightforce NXS 5.5X22X56 with illuminated reticle.
Works great. $2000 scope on a $3000 rifle

I do not have $2000 now for the scope. Wouldn't Bushnell be sufficient for 200-300 yards? The reviews of them seems to be only positive. I can probably spare another few hundred bucks if I know I am getting a better scope, but not few grands on .223 rifle. What about IOR scopes?

Heres a pic of mine. Picked up on Saturday from Hunters. Along with Roosters rail, the front and rear sights have been removed and Leupold PRW High Rings were used to support the Bushnell 3200 10x40.

Works and shoots great

The combination of a Nightforce 2.5-10 works well aboard a set of Warne Ultra-High QR rings to get around the rear sight problem..........However it does require a cheek piece (the airsoft ones work just fine on a buddies PE)

I'm not sure what the problem is with using a LER scope mounted in front of the factory sights?
For sure I will not be removing the diopter from my rifle.
The setup I've shown above works good with the optics mounted low, will be even better once I get Roosters ext. rail, and when I can afford a Leupold Mk. 4 or Nightforce scope, I'll be a very happy camper:p

BTW, shogun, I had a look at a Bushnell Elite 3200 today at WS, I don't like the eye relief for the the low mount setup I've got going, and compared against the Leupold Mk.4 - well there was no comparison IMO ;)
