SIG pistols

Isn't the 228's barrel shorter than 105mm? Making it prohibited?
I'd love to have a 228 or 229, but I thought the barrel length didn't quite cut it.

Or is this a grandfathered 228?

Having shot the 228 and 226. The 228 is WAY better, the size feels as though its balance properly for the caliber. Don't get me wrong here, i love the 226 too! But given the choice i'd go 228. It just feels right.

Question> When I was shooting the 226, i had a hell of time running off 10 extremely fast shots and staying on target. My glock can ring off 10 rds like full auto and stay on target really well. Any comments on fast shots with a SIG?

Aye...there's the rub...;) That's why SIG-ophiles hate Glocks. :D

Could be that you're more used to the grip angle on the Glock. What kind of P226 was it? One with the stainless steel slide?

I can't say I've ever found the P226 with the sheet steel slide to be a problem staying on target, especially compared to a Glock. The Beretta 92FS has less muzzle flip than either the Glock 17 or the P226, but it has more weight up front, that's why.

i was just wondering...i really like the SIG 226 in 9mm. But it wouldn't rapid fire very well, I probably just need more time to get used to it. I think your right about the Beretta muzle flip. Slavex shoots those things like pellet guns, no flip nothing, all on target.

I have owned a lot of handguns including Sigs. The only Sig I have really liked is the P228. In my opinion it is the right size for a 9mm. In a 40 S&W the only Sig that attracts my attention is the P229 and this is for the same reasons as the P228. Is there any chance you can find a Browning High-Power (BHP) in 40 S&W? Why? The BHP is the softest shooting 40 S&W I have shot. Regards, Richard :D
Richardoldfield, I hope I don't come off sounding like I'm taking a potshot at you (I'm not), but I'm curious why you always offer opinions on firearms that are prohibited in this country? You know very well that we can't own guns like the P228 and 4" N-Frames. Do you derive some sort of sadistic satisfaction out of reminding us about all the great toys we can't have thanks to our bonehead politicians? You are lucky to live in a country where gun ownership is seen as a right rather than an [increasingly less justifiable] privilege. Please don't tease your not so fortunate neighbors.

believe it or not....i've seen a few sigp228's for sale on gunnuts in the last year. With the extended barrel of course. Questar is bringing in a lot of cool guns.

Well I talk about handguns all the time, and they're banned here. :(

At least in Canada you can have P228s and N-Frame S&Ws, you just need to replace the barrel with a slightly longer one. I do prefer the grip on the P228 to the standard P226.

Frankly if I could only own one pistol (and at the moment I can't own any except overseas, so this is not a stretch for me) it would be a P228.

I heard that some former UK gun owners store their handguns in France these days. Is that what you do?

I still prefer to get my SIGS from TSE.

They actually stock replacement parts and when I had a long prolonged debate a couple of years ago with Nicholls over a cracked slide issue, they really went to bat for me.

They have earned my buying loyalty!
