Sig Pro (2022) versus normal Sig 226

what's the view regarding these two? are the Pro series a good alternative to the normal P226 stuff, or are they a cheap-out made by someone else with Sig's name on it? are they kinda like the Springfield xD / xDm series which just jumps on the polymer-frame bandwagon and isn't even made by the company, or is it legit and actually a real Sig product?
 
I've read good things about the Sig Pro, most notably sig quality in a polymer frame for much less the price.

I also saw a statistic from one of the large firearms dealers in the states and the Sig Pro was top 3 I think for best selling pistols of 2009-2010, which is pretty shocking
 
My 2340 which somewhat similar has a slightly shorter grip than the 226. I need a reason to buy a Sig 2022, I am sure I will find it sooner than later.
 
The 2022 is an excellent pistol and is very well regarded by Sig owners. I find the size and grip angle to be closer to the 229 than the 226 though. I've found it's a little more "snappy" in .40 compared to the 229 in that calibre but it is very comparable in 9mm. Top Gun Supply has all German models in 9mm on sale for $389 US right now. I just wish we could see prices like that up here.
 
I have big hands, so I'd go for the SIG 226 all the way !
my personal preference is full metal SIG 226R Elite SS the one that I have now and I'm very happy with it....

so are the SigPro series actually a bit more compact than the regular 226 series? cuz ya, i gots big hands and the regular 226 fits me very well. if the SigPro stuff is the same size, it could be an option. if they're more compact, then no good for me...
 
Ok I have fired both in a single range session. I have a sig pro 2022 and a friend had a sig P226 so I had a real solid time to examine both together closely.

The P226 felt waaaaay better in its action. The trigger in my 2022 has a lot of movement to it before it actually fires, similar to toys actually. The 226 though had a much much better feel to the trigger action and was much smoother and more crisp. For that alone I have to say that I prefer the 226 based on the better quality of internals.

No doubt that I like my 2022 and it is a great value for other pistols in its price range, but if I had experienced what I did firing both together before I purchased my 2022, I would have saved a bit more and bought one of the 226 or similar models.
 
Just man up and get the P226 - I can say after buying a shotgun and an SR22, the sig is the only one I didn't think twice about - it's worth every penny to me (so are the others, but the sig is my "favourite")
 
The SigPro was the winner of one of the biggest pistol contracts in history. As a result almost every policeman in France carries one, it must have impressed someone to beat out all the other competitors.
 
ya, ok. it seems that a (real) Sig 226 is in my future, though exactly how soon is still TBD. missed an opp to get a nice one in .40S&W for a great price so just gotta wait for the next opp - and bypass all the SigPro ads.
 
Two-pound giant hunks of steel don't impress me anymore, although I will always have some kind of 1911.
The 2022 I just got feels good, although I havn't shot it yet and NO it's not for sale...yet. :)
The trigger is better than the three 220's I have had.
 
I only have 13 SIGs right now, and none are the "newer" style. Didn't like the way they felt in the hands, but really like the 220, 225, 226, 228 and 229 style. Just my personal experience with the SIG line.

Awesome collection - that's like $15,000 worth of sigs lol!
 
Ditto for the P226 -- you can't go wrong. One of the most reliable, functional, practical, well made "standard" pistols I've ever owned. That said, you get what you pay for and I've heard good things about the 2022 for the price. If you get a 2022, do a trigger job on it.
 
well the 226 sas dak i had was the best quality built gun i have ever owned, i just didnt like the dak too long of a trigger pull, but the e2 fits your hand like a glove, and it has the SRT trigger, screwless grips and is DA/SA which is great.

forgive my ignorance for I am a bolt gun type. The trigger is the only complaint I have on my 2022, what does a trigger job on a pistol entail?
 
just as a tip, I tried on the p226 e2 at a store and it did not fit my hand as well as the standard p226 - I guess my hands are bigger than most on here because I've read a lot of people who like the e2 better
 
Good to know. Guess I can safely skip the E2 version in that case since my hands prefer bigger grips.
