SIG Pro 2022

They have their own mag vis-a-vis the other SIGs, like the P229. I believe the SIG Pro mags are interchangeable between the SP2022, SP2009, and SP2340 - even between the three calibres.

The 9mm SP2022 and the (9mm) SP2009 mags are definitely interchangable (in fact they are the same, as I understand it) - as are the .40S&W and .357SIG SP2022 mags with the SP2340 mags.

You can get them from Brownells (under "Factory Parts" then "SIG"). Some Canadian sellers probably have them as well.

Glock didn't start making guns/gun parts in the U.S. until a couple of years ago. That was long after handguns had been banned in the UK. That Glock 21 would have been made in Austria.

Yes, it definitely was made in Austria, hence my comment about the proof marks. I get the impression the US ones are just assembled from boxes of parts sent over to the US, the one with Austrian proof marks was definitely tighter. Just down to the skill of fitting the parts together at the factory. Either that or he just got lucky, or they do assemble them all in Austria and the American ones have a bit of a lower QC standard.

I know for a fact that Glock in Smyrna recycle the rear sights, or they did at any rate. If you bought a Glock 17 with fixed sights a few years ago, to get the points for import under 18 USC 925(d)(3) they imported them with a goofy "adjustable" rear sight which is barely adjustable.

They'd knock off the rear sight, put them in a bin and send them back to Austria and swap them over for a fixed sight.

I think the reason they put the thumbrest and finger groove grips on the larger models (they had to on the 26 and 27 to get them approved) was so they didn't have to do that anymore, because with that grip on the gun it makes the points with a fixed rear sight on the larger models.

The best Glock 17 I ever had was my first one serial# AB646 - that's the only one I've ever seen with a properly polished breechface.

I don't think there are any refurbed SP2022's around. They are all brand new and they are all between $650 and about $850. The only "Certified Pre-Owned" guns (from SIG, coming in an orange rather than blue or black plastic case) I have heard of in Canada are the 220's and 226's.

What they show for CPO on the SIG website is here:
http://www.sigsauer.com/Products/ShowCatalogProductDetails.aspx?categoryid=55&productid=201
For those who are not that familar with the models, they are (left to right): 220, 226, 228, 229, 239, and a 229 in an orange case. (Note that those 229's have no rail... which is different from all of the 229's that have been imported into Canada in the last 18 months... except for the SAS which never have rails).

There were some "used" older SIG Pro's around.. SP2340 and SP2009, for example Dlask was selling some awhile ago... those were around $500. But CPO SIG Pro's of any vintage coming inthe orage box and the whole shebang... I have not seen that, at least in my neck of the woods. The reason is probably the same as why we have not seen any CPO 228's, 229's and 239's in Canada. The barrels on the guns originally sold to the police agencies would be prohib in Canada, and you would have to put a new barrel on it before you an ship it to Canada for sale to an individual... and the cost of doing that is going to pretty much defeat the purpose of the CPO idea (cheaper than new).

Then again... given the crazinss of our gun laws, and the pent up demand for "that which cannot be had".... if SIG took 500 CPO 228's and made new 106mm barrels for them... and put them into the Canadian market at the same price point as the brand new 229's.... they would sell them all right away no problem. The same probably goes for the 239's. (HINT HINT... some of you dealers and importers!)

Strangely, the SP2022's with the 106mm barrels do not seem to be moving all that swiftly. I'm wanting to get one, but there doesn't seem to be any shortage of people trying to sell them cheap.

We have one in town and it has a refurb Sig band and CPO sticker in the red case for $725

Wow... that's interesting. Did you get a look at the barrel on it? It must be a new barrel from the same run as the new SP2022's. Maybe there is some hope for us to see CPO 228's, 229's and 239's. The 229 in particular should be a no-brainer, as they are already doing runs of barrels for that gun for the Canadian market.

I will look at it more closely next time, the barrel does protrude.

The one I have seen has the barrel sticking out.

heres a question, the Sig pro sp2022 i think??? is comparable to the 229? meaning in size more so than it compares to a 226 size wise. so whats better between the 229 and the pro? anyone own both? I am sure there are enough sig enthusiats here. Just wondering how the recoil compares between the 2? as well as the quality and feel of the gun? how fast does it come back down on target ie for double taps?

And just for fun has anyone got to shoot the p250 yet? if so hows that compare to the 229 and the pro?
