Sig sapr 751

Its definatley a nice rifle , and while im a fan of .308 caliber battle rifles im not a fan of that price tag , when the LMT 308 can be had for a little less 3400 if i remember .

Would suck if its considered a varient , whats our governments deal with .308 magazine fed rifles ...

Just keep in mind that the PE90 was the Semi-auto SIG550, and that was classified as Prohibited as well, so Swiss Arms came out with a version based off of the SIG540, (our Black special, classic green etc...) and was thus classified non restricted (or restricted due to barrel length).

Swiss Arms specifically came out with a Canadian version of the .223 model, so there is a good chance Swiss Arms will do the same with the .308 version. Base the trigger group (mechanically) off of the 540 (or even the .223 ones we get) so they are classified as non restricted.

Of course there is no telling what the RCMP will ACTUALLY do, but SIG has already been through this once before, and IMHO I think they will be able to do it :D

Not true. They are saying July in Switzerland. Its been delayed for years.

Thanks for verifying that they are NOT currently available, they have been listed in the catalogue for over a year. Never heard of anyone purchasing one yet.....

True about the price. But the LMT is restricted I believe and hopefully the SAPR will not be. I guess it then depends on how important a non-restricted classification is to you.

On a related topic, that catalog link shows a 5.56 Swiss Arms in "Desert" finish. Custom order or what ? Anyone seen one or even heard of such a beast ?

Found it, thanks. That looks great! Pic below for the lazy; :p

They sure have some great sale prices in that catalog. The $2500CHF SG-550, $2450CHF SG-551 SWAT, $1800CHF FAMAE and all the SIG P210s really choke me up... :(

Ooh... the SG551-1 SNIPER for $6000CHF w/scope! (or used for $4500!) Import anyone?

Notice they have that weird ~16" barrel SAN 551 Carbine, the export version without the hump in the barrel like the 551-LB.

Some items are really pricey though, like ARs, H&K MR308/MR223 and FN PS90s...

Without downloading that catalog again, off the top of my head, the $1500 Swiss Military pre-owned PE90 was the one that grabbed me (that or the AUG for $3000, just cause)

Yep the AUGs look great, not to mention the H&K PSG-1 and $1200CHF P7M8! Lots of AKs and Dragunovs too, if you're into that sort of thing (blechhh - combloc! :p)...

18.5 inches imbound boys. It now takes it's own plastic mag with clamps just like the 5.6 mm mags. Produced as a semi - auto only gun, no select fire variants (SAPR, Semi Automatic Precision Rifle). Bolt is changed a bit, now has dual locking system for the bigger .308 round. Price about $4000 ish. Stay tuned.

^^^ Not any more...
Is that an M14 magazine I see?

They are 542 mags. The original SAPR from the 70's. You can tell by the bumps where they meet the receiver. I looked at the new gun at IWA. I couldn't tell if the new gun used a new mag or just a plastic version of the 542 mag. It was in a glass showcase.

Just examined the new gun in detail a couple of weeks ago. The new mags are plastic and resemble larger versions of the PE90 20 round mags, with the connecting nubs.

I don't know why they would stick with the M14 mag. The only good reason is for us over here wanting numerous cheap mags. Their own new designed plastic mag if way better.
