Sig Sauer 516/716

I read an article in the Guns and Ammo "Book of the AR-15" recently and it gave a good review after a real torture test through mud, water and sand. They even would dunk the hot barrel in water every so often. It seemed top get good groups and they could not get it to fail. I think they said the test rifle is up to 20,000 to 30,000 rounds now with no fails. To Quote: "The SIG516 is said to be the fulfilled potential of every AR. Proven accurate, durable and reliable, it still retains the AR's modular concept and accepts rail-mounted accesories...."

Seems like it would be real work horse and I would love to try one out sometime.

Ya, I checked out the "torture test" on you tube. it sounds really good and I have been looking to purchase my first AR type. Anyone have shot one? worked on it or know how much am I looking at? They sell them in the US for MSRP of $1300! Can't find pricing here.

US State Department specifically denied export permits for commercial sale of 516's and 517's. We don't expect to see any of these here in Canada in the near future.

guess they want all the good stuff to themselves! haha. Too bad, it looks like a really good AR and would definitely get one if the price is right...and if it ever becomes available. Let us know if things change Mark. Thanks

They are said to be the updated and improved versions of the HK416 as the lead designer was taken from HK and hired by Sig Sauer for the development.

AND the select fire versions have a specific suppressor mode for the gas system.
The way of the world is suppressed guns now.
