Sig Sauer conversion kits

I don't have the paperwork with me right now but I believe I bought my SRT from Target Sports in Calgary. I can check when I go home tonight to verify. The installation was very easy. You push out the pin that holds the disconnector, sear and ejector, remove the disconnector and sear and put in the two new ones. Make sure you put grease on the sear where it contacts the hammer and you're good to go. I'd say it took me 10 minutes because I was slow! :)

Thanks I will look it up. I can't wait to get it. My luck the CFO will take a couple weeks to transfer it lol.. I just joined a shooting range 3 days prior to buying and hope that does not slow the process.

I already purchased one box of mini mags but that is all I could find with about a dozen places that sell them. They carry them but all sold out and not sure when they will get more. Where is the best place online to buy them?

I know there's a fascination with mini mags because for some reason European handgun manufacturers "tune" their .22 lr pistols to them. My P226 was original a 9 mm and then I put the .22 lr conversion slide and barrel. I used whatever .22 lr ammo I had, mostly Federal and Winchester bulk pack from the beginning with no problems whatsoever. Now, it's true the lower part of the pistol had seen heavy use before but the slide and feedramp were "virgin". The bottom line, don't be too concerned with mini mags.

Ya I am just going to use them for break in then go to cheaper bulk ammo and that.
Sure, what I'm saying is that you most likely don't need them for break in either. Don't get me wrong, it's good ammo but why waste it if just for break in? In my experience, if a pistol needs them for break in and it's unreliable with other decent ammo, you'll have problems down the road. Go ahead and enjoy your new gun, you made a wise choice. :)

I must be thinking of the Sig Mosquito as I have heard nothing but bad reviews about it feeding cheap ammo.
Oh yes, the mosquito, the worst pistol that has gone through my hands in thirty years of handgun shooting. Mine didn't work with any ammo and the slide cracked. Stay away from them and if someone gives you one free, they do make nice paperweights at the office - once you deactivate them, of course. :)

awesome posts guys! this was exactly what i was looking for and sounds like everyone is happy with it. only question now is do i go for the regular P226 and get the 22 Conversion Kit, or get the P226 Classic 22 and get a 9mm conversion kit.
sounds like the sights are a little better on the regular P226, as well does not have the slide not locking issue thats on the P226 classic if i read that correctly in a previous post.

Last question how long does it take to swap out the exchange kits, is it something you can do in 5 or 10 minutes or is it more involved?

Thanks again and hopefully i will be posting soon with this as my FIRST handgun,
jason

It takes literally no time to swap the kit out.

It seems to be much cheaper buying the .22 Classic and getting the 9mm x-change kit than it is to get a 226 in 9mm and add the rimfire conversion.

Slide not locking back is only a problem with the .22 slide, not the 9mm slide. That's according to SIG, I've not tried a .22LR Classic.

Dumb question but....has anyone tried the .22cal conversion kit on the Norc? Or the other conversion kits on the Norc?

I'm confirming that the .22 slide will NOT lock back after the last round - the 9mm slide does lock on the last round.

It was something that just jumped into my head and I thought no, but then I thought that if it's a faithful reproduction then why wouldn't it.

Doesn't work. I have a P226 in .22 and had an NP22. The NP22 is based on an older Sig design and the locking blocks are different. The slide assemblies are not interchangeable between these 2.

hey guys, what are the main drawbacks or problems associated with the .22 Slide not locking back?
does anyone if that was a manufacturing defect or by design?
does that main if you try and PROVE your weapon safe you can not leave the action open?

Thanks,
jason

The main drawback is that MOST .22 caliber firearms do not like like to be dry fired. After the last round is fired this is exactly what happens. I have three conversion kits (Glock, Kimber, Sig) and only my Glock conversion slide locks back after the last round is fired. However, even my Glock needs to be dry fired to remove the slide.

It is NOT a defective slide because they all of the Sig .22 slides were designed to not to lock back after the last round has been fired. IMHO, this is a design defect.

The slide CAN be manually locked back using the slide lock leaver to PROVE your firearm safe.

I hope that helps.

Ok

My transfer was approved for the Sig sauer P226 classic and I was curious to know what is the average or a good amount of mags to have as it only comes with one. They are a bit on the expensive side so what are your thoughts? 2 or 3?

Also has anyone used the followers for them you can get on the internet?
