I find myself growing out of the $200 Redfield, the glass has poor light transmission and readings are inaccurate pass 300 yards. I finally decide to upgrade after the Redfield cost me a big buck this fall. Which brings me to the Sig Sauer Kilo 1250/2200 rangefinders. I know the specs clam these rangefinders can range deer out to 750 /1300, but in real world, results may vary. From a online review, the Kilo 2000 can range deer out to 1000 yards. but I can't find legitment review on the Kilo 1250.

Can someone tell me the capability of the Kilo 1250 on deer size targets?

My shooting mostly revolves around hunting, I think my 270WIN can reach out to 600 yards. so if the Kilo 1250 can range deer out to 600 yards, I will save $300.

if there are any other rangefinders with good glass and range, please recommend. (no Leica, out of my price range)

Finally decided to get a decent rangefinder.
Went to Cabela's today, got the kilo1250. Under foggy condition, The kilo1250 failed to range pass 550 yards. I know fog will greatly reduce the effective distance of any rangefinder. But 550 yards is just unacceptable. Even the old Redfield can range 480 yards in the same weather condition. Cabela was great with their return policy. Got an exchange for the kilo 2200LRH. Which feels significantly heavier than kilo1250, hopefully it is because Sig Sauer upgraded the laser and sensor.
Anyone wants to pitch in how does Leica preforms under poor weather conditions?
