Hi all,
The P226 Legion is certainly a very ###y unit and I am beginning to feel the call to get one. I would like feedback from owners and also: Single action only version or DA vesrion?

Opinions very welcome

Thanks

Gilbert

My SAO is my go-to range pistol. It seems to find its way into my range bag for every session. The trigger is amazing and it shoots like the proverbial laser. Hands down the most accurate pistol I own, but with typical SIG P226 reliability, durability, ergos (improved by the G10 grips!), etc. Definitely worth the price of admission. The nearest thing I have to compare is my STI Tactical Single-Stack M1911A1 in .45 ACP, which is a $2.5K handgun. Although expensive, the SIG Legions are actually great value for the money. Just my $.02

Thanks for your opinion Bartok. My only actual Sig (which is not a Sauer ) is a Swiss made P-210, so I am quite spoiled. I just feel to get something more modern and tactical but I want something durable and accurate.

Thanks

Gilbert

Nothing wrong with the Legion (other than a not particularly durable finish). I just can't warm up to it.

For less, money I'd go with the German made basic x-five

Or if you wanted something a little more tactical, the German made LDC.

Dosnt the ldc have some kind of special custom shop trigger in it or something?

Yes at 3.5 lbs in single action. The Legion has a nice trigger too but probably not better.
The LDC is also all steel (same with the X-5 above) compared to the alloy frame of the Legion.

Yes Graham, you're showing good options. As you know me: all steel is definitely a plus... I was also lurking at the X5 SO all black. Definitely nice but much more pricy.

The LDC is more of a target gun than a tactical/combat pistol IMO. It has adjustable and FO sights, extended controls, full length dust cover, and a trigger tuned by god himself.

The Legion is a fantastic 226 variant. The PVD finish looks great, the frame checkering helps glue the gun to your hand, the X-ray sights are probably my favorite pistol sights of all time, and the grey guns trigger is like butter. You cannot go wrong with picking up a legion, IMO

I really like mine (it's a DA/SA model). I've not had any issues with finish wear, although it's not see a ton of holster use. There are three things that stand out for me: the excellent sights, the grips (which are I think the best factory grips I've ever had on any handgun) and the trigger. The DA pull is OK...maybe a little lighter than the usual SIG, but the SA trigger (which is adjustable for overtravel) is very crisp and short, with a short reset. I don;t know how it compares with the SAO trigger but from what I've read the SAO trigger is very good....I'm more of a fan of the classic look of the DA/SA P226.

I don't care for the beavertail (although it is smaller than some of the P226 models) or the small controls.

I wrote a detailed overview last year here when I first got it.

Both P226 Legions are excellent, but the SAO version is particularly awesome. I personally prefer the Legion SAO to the LDC, but most won’t agree with me.

What makes you prefer the legion?

The X-Five undercut and the grips make it one of those guns that feels perfect in my hand. And then there is that trigger!

The LDC is nice too. Mine has had a few feeding issues. It is a very tight gun when new, possibly too tightly fitted.

Can you get the E2 grips for the legion or are the grips and trigger better on the legion? What is the difference between the P226 EE and the Legion.

The Legion Undercut is a bit more subtle than the X5. Here are profile pictures of an X5 Entry, a P226 Legion, and a P226 Extreme. (only the Legion is still mine):

I don't think you'd want to replace the Legion grips for the E2's. They're pretty nice. The trigger is your standard 10lbs DA, 4.4lbs SA in terms of weight, but with the P-SAIT trigger and SRT make the DA feel smoother and the SA is heavenly.
