Sig Sauer MPX available to the public

For the last several year readers have been rather irritated with Sig for not selling the MPX to the public. Well the time has come. I had a meeting with Sig this morning and as usual we talked about new guns and any changes in status of present guns.

I happened to ask about the MPX and the possibility of them being release to the public.Without hesitation he replied they are now open for public sale. There will be several models available. The first is an SBR semi-auto, a semi auto carbine and a rifle version. All versions will be semi-auto.

The muzzle device that many of you like is still temporarily on hold. The ATF blocked that device from being an allowed accessory. Sig is very confident that issue will be resolved shortly. That’s certainly good news. The MSRP is to be announced shortly.

I hope the readers will be pleased by this change in policy!

This isn't really news. Sig stated last Shot Show there were going to release a civilian version. The question is when?

A semiautomatic variant of the SIG Sauer MPX submachine gun, the MPX Pistol, will begin shipping to commercial purchasers in February, according to the company’s public relations representative, Allen Forkner.

The MPX Pistol features an eight-inch barrel, aluminum handguard, and AR-style ambidextrous fire controls. All MPX-pattern firearms utilize a short-stroke gas piston system. The MPX Pistol will be available in 9x19mm, .40 S&W, and .357 SIG. Its retail price is set at $1,999.

The MPX was revealed at SHOT Show last year to much fanfare. The MPX-C, a carbine variant of the gun, featured a unique muzzle brake/baffle device that appeared to be suppressor- or SBR-ready. Forkner shared that the MPX-C is currently being redeveloped.

Select-fire variants of the MPX are available to military and law enforcement buyers.

Is the RCMP evaluation of the MPX in process?

In the US Sig are still tied up in legal wrangling with the ATF about whether or not the 'brake' is a suppressor. I doubt we'll see them approved until that is resolved in Sigs favour.
