OK... So, I just received my first handgun, bought from the EE here. A Sig P226 Elite Stainless. Can't wait to go shoot it. Wondering what you all like to shoot out of your P226's?

Just buy the cheapest stuff I can find?

Either of these decent?

Any 9mm will do just fine. Go with whatevers cheapest, which also means not Cabelas... try the sponsors here instead. Some offer free shipping and are way cheaper per round than that. American eagle at $.44 a round? wow...

My p226 eats almost everything reliably, the only ammo I've ever had issues with is the Barnaul 115gr steel case stuff. It had really hard primers so it would sometimes not ignite the first time. It would however go off if I was to fire it again.

Mine has shot everything, even the cheap stuff with aluminum case and any Wolf reload I've bought. I avoid bare lead as it gets the gun too dirty, my 226 Elite has never malfunctioned.

^^^^^^^
These are both good selections. Don't shoot steel cased ammo (Barnaul) for the few cents you save per round you will spend more having to change out your extractor. The steel is really hard on the extractor claw. Additionally, if you shoot a lot and the pistol chamber gets hot, the lacquer coating on the steel cases can start to melt / get sticky and result in stuck cases / FTE.

You purchased a quality pistol, recommend you buy quality brass cased ammo.

Good ammo, but FWIW we sell the Remington 1000rd case for $339.

Mine eats anything. Ive never had any issues with any ammo I've fed it. Including commercial reloads and new.

For your sig it is a simple check list for compatible ammo

Mine will eat anything, no issues...FWIW though, it seems to like 124gr bullets best of all for accuracy...heavier or lighter doesn't group as tight...

Aren't most 9mm milspec handguns designed and sighted for the 124gr FMJ round? If so, makes sense that it's more accurate with that bullet weight.
IIRC, wasn't the 147gr loading initially a subsonic loading for the MP-5 to be used with suppressors?

Not a clue about that, but all of my 9mm pistols like the 147g flat point bullet (and it's soft shooting). I buy that ammo if I can find it, if not I buy whatever is available as my 2 Sig's and 92FS eat everything.

Any noticeable difference between POA and POI at 10- 15 yds?
I don't think the current 147gr are subsonic.
Again, I could be wrong but I believe the old Federal Hydra-Shok ammo was designed to force expansion with the slower 147gr round.
Anyone ever shot a 95gr JSP 9mm round? They are short stubby bullets that may not feed in some guns.

Not that I could tell, but I haven't had that ammo for quite a while. The AE 147g flat point stuff is rated at 1000 fps while their 115/124 is 1120-1180.

Well, I'll be!!
1000fps is considered subsonic. So the current 147gr ammo is still subsonic. Didn't know that. Thanks!
I've actually not seen them in my neck of the woods so have no experience with them at all.
