Sig Sauer P226 E2 & P229 E2

Actually on the Sig Sauer website it's referred to as: "SIG SAUER’s new E2 Enhanced Ergonomics P226 and P229"

Sure, but anyone who does any math or coding on a computer knows E squared is E^2 not E2 in plaintext ;)

Just look at the pics above. E squared.

Nice X400! I think I will be going with the TLR-2s (strobe ftw.)

that's a great deal! I agree E2 has lots to offer for the price, and I also could care less about beavertail :redface:. Got mine from Questar;

I am another tosser between 226 & 229, and the grip on regular 226 I found to be on bulky side thus my preference for 229. The 226 E2 however has been really pleasant to shoot with, almost as if the grip is magnetic that my palm sticks to it.

Nice Sig, on my 226 Elite it says that "frame made in Germany". Just curious if Sig USA started making their frames in Exeter..

Nice E2!!!

I would have liked to shot one before making my final decision, since I didn't get to feel if the SRT was too close or if it was just right, that would be the only benefit for me as I would change the grips to fullsize anyway.

Hey robertf, p229 is an easier swap for you because you have the holster etc already, save a ton of time, effort, and money by getting the same platform

I recently found out the use the same holster, at least with the Serpa Holsters.

E2 Grips

I know we already talked about it ... but for me, the P226 E2 was not as comfortable as the standard P226.

I held both in my hands the other day, comparing them side-by-side at Target Sports Canada.

Joe from Target confirmed that they ship with 3 mags in Canada (I wasn't sure if it was just in the USA), and their pricing in-store is cheaper than Questar online!

I've read a lot about the SRT trigger and it's supposed to be worth the money, so if you like the feel of the regular P226 you can buy the E2 for ~ $150 more and get night sights, 3 factory mags, SRT, and the ability to run standard Sig grips which you can buy online for cheap.

Hi. Am I to understand that the E2 grips can be replaced with the standard grips? How are the E2 grips mounted? Does the frame have the screw holes to screw on the standard grips? I have been looking at the 229 Enhanced Elite chambered in S&W .40 as an upgrade from my P228. I like the fulll length serrations on the rear of the slide. I'm not too sure that I want to keep the E2 grips and have been trying to find out if I could change out the E2 for some hogue grips, which I presently have on my P228. Also liking the Tactical Ops P226. Thanks.

From what I have read online you can switch the e2 grips for factory grips no problem. The e2 grips simply "slide-onto" the frame and lockinto place that way.

The grips can be swapped but you also need to change the hammer strut and main spring. Kits are availiable in Germany and also to LE Armourers in the US. I expect you will see them availiable to civillians in the US shortly.

The E2 Polymer Grips are now coming standard on the base 226R-9-B and 226R-9-BSS guns (as well as the 40S&W versions). This is also the case for the 229's from what I remember of our briefing at SHOT.

The "E2" or E Squared model has additional features (SRT for example) over and above the 'base' models.

You may still find a few dealers who have the older model (older grips) still left in stock... but once they have sold off they won't be available, from what we've been told.

Also, SIG continues to refuse to make the SRT upgrade/kit available to ANYONE other than their own custom shop. They did for a short while but stopped. We have repeatedly asked them about this and even though we have SIG Certified Armourers in-house they say that no-one other than their Custom Shop can install these parts on a gun.

I bought a .40 P226 E2 last month.

I bought it for the trigger alone, as the standard P226 grips fit my big hands the best. For my hands, the E2 grip points fairly naturally, though the standard ones are dead on when I "punch out". I also found that the web of my hand wants to ride lower on the E2 grip, and does not naturally end up right at the top when I grab it.

For someone with small to medium hands, it's probably great. But it's not really for me and I knew that before buying - I am going to swap it out with standard grips a planned. That trigger sure is nice though. :)

I got exact same for Christmas. I love everything about it, especially the grips because I do have small hands.

But wait, did you hear about the trigger? :D LOL gotta love that SRT.

I ordered reduced power recoil springs for mine because I reload light.

I've read last week (On Sigforum) that SIGarms actually started to sell the SRT parts to anyone (Not just sig armorers). A few members reported they did order the parts for 226 and 229 (Which are the same anyway...); apparently they changed their policy recently.

Today we contacted SIG again (we do this every month or so) and spoke to them once again about the SRT (Short Reset Trigger) Kits.

I am happy to report that this time they agreed to sell us a quantity of these kits, on the understanding that we only offer them as an "installed" item and that we don't sell them on their own... our in-house certified armorour must do the installation of the parts.

SIG has not yet given us an exact delivery date on this product. Once the parts arrive we will post pricing and details on installation.
