Was eyeing up the SIG P226 Elite Stainless, 9mm today. Need a 9mm in my collection and thought this one would be perfect. A little pricey at $1495 but its a damn sharp handgun. Has anyone purchased or shot one of these? What are your thoughts on it?

Nope but have it on my list, I have the regular 226st and its a excellant pistol and runs as good as it looks. The elite should be even better with the short reset trigger, what store was this at?

I wouldn't bother with the Elite, get a regular P226 ST. It doesn't have the ugly bevertail, I'm also not a fan of front slide serrations...

Maybe this one is of interest to you...:) It is in Edmonton, too! You would have lots of money left over for ammunition.

Christina,
Good choice. It might be expensive but that's one firearms you will be keeping for a very long time.

The previous non elite stainless P226 would also be a good choice.

My list of wants: P226 X-five, P220 SAO match.

I currently have a love hate relatinoship with my S&W 5946. One minute it makes me look great. The next time out I'm shooting like crap. Grrrr. I think I've figured out what's going on though. I call this pistol my K-mart Sig. It's a very distant second to the real thing.

After having stainless and blued pistols. Stainless is the only way to go.

I'd personally go for a regular 226ST. Although it's been discontinued, new ones are still available. It's a few hundred bucks cheaper than the Elite and does not have the ridiculous looking (and totally unnecessary) rear appendage.

Excellent choice with the SIG, on my wish list too. Get a regular P226R, the others don't really offer anything of greater value for the extra $$$. As it is the P226 is perfect.

Now if you want super ###y the P220 Combat would be worth the extra $$$, add a fake can on the end and you're have a looker. The grip would likely also be a little more comfy if you have ladies sized hands.

How can you guys say its no different, the trigger is completly different as they state 60% quicker reset and how the hell can you hate beaver and tail :)?
