Sig Sauer P226 MK25

I say stick with a stock 226 and spend the difference on ammo and training.

Tdc

I agree with TDC with the one caveat, that you should try to get a 226 with the Short Reset Trigger (SRT). Even if you decide on the MK25, you should upgrade it with the SRT

Absolutely. I put the SRT in my P227, and it's a much better gun. I'm not modifying the P226 at all as it's a German-made an I want to keep it all original. I'll buy another to tinker with - thinking P229.

This ^^^^^

I've shot quite a few SIGs (actually - a pile since Wanstalls 'SIG Range Day') - and I presently own the SIG TAC-OPS in .40 cal which comes with the SRT.

IMO - buy a SIG that comes with the SRT, or buy the SRT kit and have it installed - you will never regret it.

I really like my mk25. They come with three mags and night sights which offsets the extra cost slightly.a standard 226 is also a great choice

Likewise. I got the Mk25 partially for the anchor and cool factor, but also it came with night sights, a short extractor, three Mec-Gar (versus Checkmate) magazines, and apparently the attention to detail and quality is superior.

You asked about other options, so I'll be the guy who throws out something else...

As another option you can get a CZ SP-01 Shadow, for less coin. They are very well put together pieces as well. It depends on what you want and intend for use...
