So I got up early to hit the range today to put my new Tacops through the paces and Zero my new Eotech 552 on the AR.

Last night I cleaned the Sig and followed Flork's lube guide. I did get 4 of the less popular Checkmate mags with the gun. I have 4 of the Mec-Gars with the bumper plates on order from Northwestern Magazine. I disassembled all for mags to ensure they were fully operational and lightly lubed.

Once at the range I ran Federal 147 grain wad cutters that I got a good deal on. The gun has a real hard double action pull (as expected) but the SRT and single action pull was beautiful. Actually better than I expected. I was way more accurate with this rig than my old M&P Pro.

I was disturbed that none of my magazines caused the slide to lock after the last shot. It happened with every single mag. Spoke to a guy at the range and he asked if I was riding the slide release in my grip and sure enough my right thumb was accustomed to sit on top while shooting. Even with just a little force was enough to stop the slide lock from engaging. So all those who suspect the Checkmate mags as the cause of this issue may want to analyse their grip. When I held the grip a little higher by fully engaging the Beaver tail, I did not have this issue.

All in all I LOVE this gun. The M&P Pro was good but I never loved it. If any one is on the fence about including Sig Sauer to their collection.... DO IT! :-D

SIGs are great guns! Does the TAC OPs have a plastic guide rod or metal? Also if you mod your slide catch by cutting the tab in half, you will avoid that problem ;)

when you shoot a lot of 1911 pistol and then go to SIGs is a common "ride slide release" with your thumb.
I'm shooting for many many years now only SIGs and still have from time to time a not catch slide from my grip ...just correct your grip with many shooting exercises and you'll be OK !....old habits die hard!

Exactly my thoughts. My thumb just naturaly rests there.

x2 on this bad boy ....

I too have the TAC OPs in .40 and it is a thing of beauty!

Abby

I got one too in 9mm. I got a chance to shoot it on labour day and WOW! Not one problem with it. I was shooting a mix of Wolf and Blazer brass and they all went bang. I think the gun is more accurate then me lol.

My first and only pistol right now is the 226 Tac Ops and love it! Im also riding the slide release every once in awhile but starting to get used to it. The only problem I have with it is I don't have near enough ammo!!

I'm new to the handgun scene and choose the tacops in 9mm to cut my teeth on. I absolutely love this handgun! Does anyone know where I can purchase 10 round bumpered mags for it?
Thanks folks, great forum!
